At work you could take a great engineer and make him a manager. But it was clear that being a great engineer required different skills than running an organization- some great engineers turned into mediocre leaders for a variety of reasons. I assume it’s the same for coaching. Being an assistant for 5 years would be really helpful, I suspect.It's still unknown how Spencer would do as a coach. I'm betting against success. Not because I have any animosity toward Spencer but his on the mat personality doesn't scream great coach.
