Iowa recruit Spencer Lee falls in PA finals. First ever HS loss. Watch here. Link:

Do you think when you say things it just goes away and no one remembers? You told us Suriano was going to beat Gilman. You told us Jimmy was going to beat Heil. You told us Vincenzo was going to beat IMar. You told us Hall was going to beat Bo Jordan. You told us Bo Nickal would beat Martin. You may have even said Nick was going to beat Medberry at Bigs. Having said that, why should I or anyone else here listen to your opinion on the way a match is going to shake out. I mean Christ man, I'm still looking all over State College for that Gold Medal you promised Frank was going to bring home. Will you help me look for it?
If Spyker had his way, Quentin Wright would still be single.

Don't forget Suriano's ankle was 100%. You can virtually take everything he says and the opposite is the real truth. Maybe it is his plot on misdirection. Honestly, I have really wanted to believe most of the BS slinging but the boy has cried wolf too many time. Someone should take his keyboard.

Given this success rate he would even lose his job as a weatherman.

What did Lee look like in the 6-0 semi?
And was he wearing that same brace?

I was there and saw him in the semi. Had the brace on in the quarters and semis. He didn't look good. Was not moving well in that match and played a lot of defense once he got the lead.

Lee's been wearing the leg brace since he started the post season tournaments I believe. Most hawk fans thought it was a minor tweak or so, since for the most part we only saw the results, and it was all pins/TFs through every match up to the state semis.

I had a bit of an uneasy feeling about the finals after the 6-0 semi match, and hearing various reports about the match. The rest is history as you know.

Certainly no lack of excitement in the lull between bracket releases and NCAAs, thats for sure.

DeSanto quote:

"I'm excited but at the same time I wrestled a hurt Spencer Lee," DeSanto said. "You could see his knee, he was favoring it the whole time. I just kind of feel bad for him. But at the same time, I'm excited for myself. I worked every day after that tech fall to beat him and I got my dream, I guess."

I know he's committed to Drexel, but I'd love to have this guy at Penn State. Maybe a fit at 133 in the future? I'm guessing there's a bunch of coaches at some real good programs thinking the same thing.

The kid is all class - he showed a lot of "grace in victory" as that quote evidences. Would love to see him go to PSU, but I have a feeling he is getting dough at Drexel and PSU probably can't match it.

Yea, as some other posters here have pointed out before, the PIAA Championships always being the weekend between B1Gs and NCAAs is perfect for PSU fans (and Iowa fans lately given the number of Pennsy kids the Brands are recruiting and signing).

The other reason Lee likely wouldn't have won by TF is because DeSanto prepared for him this time.

Last year before the match he said he wasn't going to study Lee because (I'm paraphrasing) he has to adjust to me.

There was no way he was making that mistake again this year.
Holidaysburg coach, Mike Moore was getting ready to go out and wrestle Cary Kolat and one of his BEN teammates says to him, just keep attacking. Mike looks at his teammate and says don't worry, I got this. He's never wrestled anybody as strong as me.
After being pinned and coming off the mat Moore looked at his teammate and says I've never wrestled anything like that.

I wish the young man all the best. Injuries stink in this sport...hope he sees most of his dreams come true.
