#12 in the first CFP ranking system and we all know where that finished. Guess what, we are going to be higher tomorrow night.

Who can forget how dominant the Michigan D looked at that time and Louisville was unstoppable, passing everyone's "eyetest". We were also behind, Texas A&M, Auburn, Nebraska and Florida. USC wasn't even in the top 25!

What I am saying is I can't believe how many people seem to have given up hope that this team can make the playoff. There are really only about 13 teams with a legitimate shot. We have a great chance to run the table and be the team with the "best" single loss. So, let's hope the team goes out and kicks ass and runs up some scores.

I feel with what we have left, we run the table and get a little luck for once and end up in the playoff. As last year showed, there is A LOT of football left to play. One thing that is the constant in college football is that upsets WILL happen, combine that with all the teams that still need to play each other and my blue and white colored glasses have us back in Cali this year. Can't wait to beat up on Michigan State this weekend!

Perhaps that is because we are not hearing a Chorus of 'fluke victory' diatribes because of OSU's blocked punt etc. Perhaps it is because (Can You Believe this - this years OL looks to be worse than last years or the year before when it comes to the running game - There have been cases of PSU fans getting whiplash from shaking their heads while watching them). Some of this is TIC, of course. But, we must remember, truth is resident at the core of humor even when the humor is tic and bad.

There is a lot of time left for a shake up. I hope this staff can keep the team on point. This week will be critical. Each week after that obviously is also critical. PSU-MSU games have had some wildly unpredictable results. Erasing the disappointment and refocusing the team toward.... MSU MSU MSU...wont be a piece of cake.

Given how much football is left to be played, IMO Penn State has a better than 65% chance of making the CFP playoff if they win out. I expect that they won't have far to climb to get into the top 4 once the initial rankings come out, and this loss will be a distant memory to the committee by late November.

Next week's game will be telling. If the team feels sorry for themselves and plays flat at MSU, they don't deserve to be in a playoff even if they win. But I expect this team to play very well on Saturday, and I sort of expect MSU to pack it in after their loss last week against NW.

After beating OSU last year we had a good shot at the B1G title. This year we have virtually no chance because OSU would have to lose twice.

I don't know if I'd go that far about having a good shot last year at B1G title. We needed to avoid a tie with Michigan after they whooped us. We caught a break with Iowa knocking off Michigan and then OSU hanging on to beat Michigan so that we could own that tiebreaker. Point being, we needed some help last year too. We have just as good of chance this year or running the table and getting a break here and there to be an attractive one loss team. Michigan needs to roll Wisconsin in a couple weeks.

I'm with you on the sentiment that the sky isn't falling. This is a great team (with some work to do) and the program is going in the right direction. But part of the emotion you seem to be addressing comes from the fact that our team was beating tOSU in Columbus in the biggest game of the year and had to watch that victory just fade away. Remember the rants by Buckeye fans after we beat them last year? They didn't sound like fans who believed in heading to the playoffs then either.

So I agree with you, but give people a little more time to come around. All could use support in the loss. I feel terribly for the kids, coaches, etc. But remember PSU fans have experienced quite a bit since November, 2011 and Saturday would have, should have, given something we've been hoping for for a long time.

Agree we needed help even after beating OSU last year but this year we aren't going to win the B1G and we need even more help from other teams to make the playoffs.

That said, winning 5 (incl bowl) more games should give us a top 5 finish.

Running the ball 3 times with a lead and 8 minutes to go when you have manage 2.5 YPC the first 3.5 qtrs of the game should be called the "Pull a loss from the jaws of Victory approach." I have seen it 4 times before with CJF, a guy who I have stood behind 100% from the beginning.... now I stand behind him 96%. Why, only because he is a hell of a good man otherwise. But if I ever have to watch that kind of crap approach again..... send me to Heinz Stadium to sit with the yellow seats.... where I can watch something pure .... like 100% failure 100% of the time...... ;)

I wouldn't say we had a good chance of winning the Big 10 title, after beating OSU last year. Needed Michigan to lose twice, and no one saw them losing to Iowa (they were a 20+ point favorite).

Hoping Iowa gives bucknutz second loss of the season
