latest Suriano news

My son went to South Korea and had makchang, which is a dish made with abomasum (cow's stomach). He wants to try making it himself. Good luck finding that in a supermarket! We were able to get it at Dietrich's Meats in Krumsville, PA. He's going to cook it for us over Labor Day weekend. Exotica! :D
Used to visit Dietrich's at the Kutztown Farmers Market every Saturday for many years when I lived in PA.

It had to be ordered specially. They slaughter on Tuesdays and the butcher held them aside for me. They did three steers that day so we got 3 abomasums. What I love about Dietrich's is that every edible part of the animal gets used for something they make.

Maybe this thread
Should be declared dead.

lol. I thought it had died multiple times, but some people wouldn't let that happen. ;)

In before the Lock!

lock the thread? no way I'm doing that. An amazing combination of actual information, groundless speculation, and resolutions to most of the world's problems. Seems like a perfect offseason thread. ;)

What ever happened to women wrestling in mud or jello? You don't see that anymore.
I actually have videos of my wife, before she was my wife, doing this. It was a fundraiser for her high school team, and they told her there wouldn't be that many in the stands. It was packed.

If you have the refrigerator space, get the dry agreed for this weekend, and request a very thick cut o

I know it as tripe in PA, menuda (sp) here in CO, difficult to find.

It was better than that. Blackledge vs Dan Marino. 14 - 0 Pitt, Marino throws another would-be TD pass, gets intercepted in the end zone. PSU scores 48 straight. One to remember.
Was also the day Chet Pavlechko became a legend, Julius Dawkins and Dwight Collins grew gator arms and it was a fun day to be a Penn State student in Pitt Stadium.

Tripe is usually made from the first three parts of the system. The abomasum is usually not made into tripe. From wiki:

Beef tripe
Beef tripe is usually made from the muscle wall (the interior mucosal lining is removed) of only the first three chambers of a cow's stomach: the rumen (blanket/flat/smooth tripe), the reticulum (honeycomb and pocket tripe), and the omasum (book/bible/leaf tripe). Abomasum (reed) tripe is seen much less frequently, owing to its glandular tissue content.

IDK how you would go about defining the top 10 wrestlers in PA history, but it has been well documented that the 4x champs have been all over the place in college.

So have the 3x champs. For every Jason Nolf and Nico Megaludis, you have at least a Chris Kwortnik and Joey Wildasin.

Yea, no doubt. By anyone's measure, Nate Carr has to be considered one of the greatest PA Wrestlers ever (3X NCAA Title winner, beating fellow Olympian, Kenny Monday (pretty much unanimously acknowledged as the greatest native Oklahoma wrestler ever), in the NCAA Finals for the last 2 of those titles....a US National Team member and Olympian - took Bronze at 1988 Olympics in Seoul, but everybody recognizes that he was severely screwed by corrupt Russian Officials in the Semis and he would have taken Gold without one of the greatest screwjobs in Olympic Wrestling history in the Semis before he could face the Russian - even the Olympic Committee acknowledged the US Team's protest, saying the officiating was clearly wrong and Carr should have been declared the winner in the Semi, but saying they could not reverse results as subsequent medal/placement matches had already gone off.)

In any event, Nate only won 1 PIAA Title.

I wanted to bonus the Grothus thread. Apparently our message board warriors buy into scoring points. We are surpassing the inevitable tech and going for the fall. #4000 #Fun

The Pentagon had that research effort squeezed in the weekly agenda between the next $200 billion order from Raytheon and lobbying on the Defense Appropriations Bill in Congress

You like Raytheon over Lockheed?

You like either of them over B ... I'm not at liberty to say whom.

Funny timing . . . Raytheon and Lockheed Martin both won a contract over Boeing yesterday.

Just found out I'm cooking for 4, not 2 this weekend. Two kids coming home.
Thinking I'll go with the prime, not aged.

This whole post has me like.....

Principal: Mr. Madison, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I remember watching that game. An incredible game. It looked like Marino and Pitt were going to blow us out, and then the game TOTALLY turned around!

Was there with my dad and it was great.. I was pretty young and we were surrounded by sPitt fans and they were laying in to us pretty bad... I was ready to leave end of 1st quarter.. my dad insisted we stay.. well you know the rest of the story.. by the end of the 3rd quarter we were nearly alone in the seats around us and the few sPitters left had nothing left to mouth off about.. it felt FANTASTIC!!

Wanted to hurry up and jump in before got too close to #3000 so there was no accident. But Worcestershire sauce is the most important spice anyone can have. As important to food as hops is to beer. Much more important than wifes sister, especially if wife is not the "understanding" type. Dry aged steaks have to be treated very carefully, or they will be dry. And steaks shouldn't be cooked in a pan, unless you are making chicken fried steak-always use wood and a grill!

Jello/oil wrestling with well shaped young women is much more entertaining than wrestle-offs, IMO. Although if you jump in inappropriately, I can see where some could have a heart attack. Especially in Iceland. You all have a great day filling this thread up!
