...next up is our match vs Lehigh at the PPL Center in Allentown next Sunday at 2 PM...
...for those attending get there at least an hour before time - last week there was a sold-out concert at the PPL and they opened the doors (only 2) an hour before the event- it was pouring outside - and several hundred people missed the first half hour of the concert because of insufficient security checkpoints!...
... as for the match, this should be the toughest test thus far... Lehigh routed #4 Michigan 27-8 last week...
and will be a stern test...for those who may be interested in that result:
125 - #4 Cruz(L) dec Martin, 7-0
133 - #3 Parker(L) WBF Volyanyuk
141 - Karam(L) dec Profaci, 9-2
149 - Schuyler(L) dec Amine, 8-3
157 - Brown(L) dec# 8 Pantaleo, 7-5
165 - #3 Massa(M) WTF Walter
174 - #5Kutler(L) dec #4 Amine, 5-3
184 - #6Preisch(L) dec #5Abounader, 3-1
197 - Jacobsen(L) dec Striggow 2-0
285 - #2 Coon(M) dec #14 Wood, 6-2

...should be a good match...always Lehigh's most important... :) ...

Kutler is currently ranked 5th at 74 after moving up 2 weights. Looking forward to watching him vs Hall. Also looking forward to Cortez v Karam and Keener vs Parker.

Nevills will throttle Wood

I watched the Coon vs Wood match. That said I can not see Wood beating Nevills, he probably can keep it semi-close though after watching how he played it safe against Coon the whole match.

I have PSU losing the first three matches, and then sweeping the next seven.

Is Lehigh that good, that they routed the 4th ranked team? Or did Michigan completely fall apart last week?

Was Cortez injured last year against Lehigh?

It would be great to see him have a strong effort and knock off Karam.

Micic was out for UM, but they would have lost regardless.

I believe Kutler won the Scuffle last year at 57, and he's obviously off to a great start at his new weight.

Most people think that Cortez' injury happened during the Lehigh match last year. My contention is that he was injured in the Keystone Classic.

And, Cortez v. Karam should be a great match, that I think goes to Cortez, but not by much. Karam will be very good.

In addition, Beazley sat out 197, and Pantaleo has been a trainwreck thus far.

I'm with you. Cortez's body language in the match with Parker was way off from the get-go - before he even took the mat.

To be honest, I was confusing Coon and Wood. Lol. Lehigh, like many other teams this year, will win two or three at the first three weights and then get pummeled.

Got it. Lol. Coon does remain a fave over Nevills at this point, but I bet Nick has that match circled on his calendar!

The injury occurred before the 2016 Keystone Classic. I don't know the exact date when it occurred, but Cortez was in discomfort, and limited by the injury, at the Keystone Classic. The Lehigh match occurred after the Keystone Classic, and Cortez's injury situation had not improved by that match.

Cortez over dippery looks great now that dippery gave it to Vince turk friday.

For those that dont remember Turk 2 summers ago was the new guy in the iowa room to go from workout warrior in the room to NC in a single open practice before an iowa football game. Unfortunately an injury derailed his NC run last year. But hes back now and watch out!

Lol, yea somehow Turk went from a marginally ranked recruit to elite without a single notable win. The reality is he is going to get eaten alive by the depth at 141 this year.

Is that Turk nugget stated in the 3-inch binder ??

Let's not make this thread about Iowa. (Although turkey nuggets do sound good. I may have to repurpose some Thanksgiving leftovers...)

Lehigh wins 125, probably 133. 133 will be a great marker for Kenner. The Lions win the last 8.

Most important question is with the Lehigh wrestler continuously sliding backwards, how many times do we get to hear Lehigh screaming Penn State is stalling?

Dunno about "looks great". Dippery got a TD and four back points in the 1st period against Turk, and then pretty much did nothing else the rest of the match. Got hit twice for stalling and ended up with a two-point win, I think. Meanwhile, Cortez eeked out a one-point win over Dippery. So probably can't place a whole lot of stock in the translative property in this case.

Also worth noting that Kanen Storr of Iowa State handled Dippery pretty comfortably, 11-6.

Close but Dippery actually got taken down and then he reversed Turk and got back points. Then he didn’t do anything the rest of the match and he was gassed but for some reason Turk rode him out the 3rd period vs pushing the pace and forcing him into something stupid.

I know this will sound like a homerish comment but if they meet 10 times Turk wins 8 or 9 of them. Dippery is solid on top but he caught Turk in a bad position on the reversal.

8 or 9 IS pretty homerish. Turk got an opening TD, period. Using the 3rd period when a kid is up 8-2 as evidence of something isn't great. Also, Turk has to show he can get off the bottom as Dippery is known for his top game.

A comment like, I could see the match going another way if they meet again is pretty fair, but calling for Turk 8/9 out of 10 after that match is kind of like saying "can't wait for Kemerer to get Nolf this year." Oh wait...

If Turk couldn't win in a home Friday night dual with a blatantly homer ref, I'm not sure how you could expect him to win even half the time in a neutral setting such as nationals.
