Mark is the MAN and last night had to be tough for him.

My take..he was looking to put the nail in the coffin, went big on that first throw and I believe he pins 99% of guys with that move. Kem wrestled thru it and ended up wearing down Mark at the end.

Kudos to Mark..he’s been a leader and a stud for us since day 1, he has put the hammer down on many opponents in big spots. In a dual, I for one appreciate him going BIG and trying to put on a show. He could have wrestled conservatively and just took a controlled win and there’d be nothing wrong with that. But he went BIG and I for one appreciate it!

Many of us are fans of “our style,” and always scoring points. It will burn you once in a while but it’s so fun to watch.

Tournament time is for controlled smart matches, I loved seeing him let it fly in this dual. Yeah he wore him self out..I DONT CARE..still love Marky!!

Hope it is carbon copy of Zahid’s path last year. Zahid gassed at REC hall, but got retribution

Mark definitely tried to pull a Bo Nickal instead of being his normal, cagey self. ‘‘Twas fun to watch though.

I think Marinelli made mistakes as well - probably too cocky in the upper body ties. I might give him the edge going forward

The last time Mark Hall lost at Carver Hawkeye:

Yeah, I agree...he was amped up and wanted to make a statement and put the dual away. The replay of Joseph’s hip toss shows him going crazy when it happened, jumping up and down and shouting “Oh My God!!!” He was clearly energized with all kind of adrenaline going. Like you all said, he went big and you can’t knock him for it. He’ll bounce back and when they meet again he’ll beat him in convincing fashion....say, 5-1, 6-2 (or something of that nature. I’m not worried but I will say this. PSU had that dual in hand and two Seniors (one a 5th year in Rasheed) let them down. As for Rasheed he showed absolutely nothing offensively. Not only last night but since his return. I believe he’s a 2-2 at NCAA’s...and that may be pushing it. I could see a 1-2 performance.

Hall has put this team on his shoulders more than once this season. Last night was just weird. When do you recall Hall getting reversed twice, losing scrambles, and getting taken down like that? Respect to Kemerer, but something was off. Maybe he was trying to do too much? I fully expect him to adjust and win the title. Absolutely no worries here.

I am personally excited to see Mark's next match wouldn't want to be the poor guy he wrestles.
Maryland got beat by Ohio State 43 to 6 I think. They still have no idea what they’re in store for on Sunday.

I think Hall, between watching Joseph excitement and just missing on the toss, fried his adrenaline. Add Kemmerer length and it was the perfect storm. I think it was late 2nd period, Sanderson stood up and gave Mark a little earful which is not the norm.

In the end if Mark rebounds and wins the National Championship this loss will be forgotten and forgiven. I told my son, who rarely watches wrestling but watched last night, that if Hall and Kemmerer wrestle 10 times I would expect Mark to win 8 times.

Extremely hyped going in, went big and it didnt work, then waiting out the challenge. Recipe for failure, i gotta think had they not threw the brick ( which Im not knocking them for) Marky keeps his adrenaline and momentum. Ever wonder why C3 rarely throws bricks, here’s perfect example.

Agreed with the above. Came away more impressed with Kemerer more than anything. We know where Mark will be come March.

... Yeah [Mark] wore him self out ...
Sounds like IMar-Nolf 1. Hope Hall has the same post season result as IMar did that year.

I saw him getting outwrestled by Kemerer, who was a takedown machine.

Between Hall and Rasheed, those performances lost the meet.

Uncharacteristic match for Hall, unfortunately it was a typical match for Shak this year (it is what it is). Hall will bounce back and win out on the season. Shak needs to find "it" fast.

Not making excuses but working on campus, I can tell you that the flu is running rampant thru the students. Never know if he has been battling something and just wasn’t himself because of that.

I agree it was an uncharacteristic match for Mark. He is normally so precise, this time he was sloppy. Also Kem wrestle a perfect match, so the result was not good for us. Mark will avenge and get his second title!

Well at least we haven’t started the excuse that kem was bigger and as long as we get him Friday night and not Saturday we will be fine

Couple of things

I've always respected Kemerer - a good, strong PA kid

I thought he wrestled a great match

On the other hand, that reversal Hall gave up in the first period was completely out of character. If there's one thing about Mark Hall, it's that he is so technically sound that scoring on him has always been a huge challenge, even for Valencia. That reversal was just weirdly sloppy. Yes, Kemerer created some motion to make it happen, but Hall's ride was really loose on the upper body and he didn't respond quickly at all. In a word, he didn't anticipate the action.

Congrats to Kemerer, though

It looked super weird, agreed. Reversal like that hurts.

Yeah, in general, I thought Mark just looked a split second slower than we expect from him. Like that last ankle attempt in the third, he gets Kemerer's ankle, but then Kem is just too quick for him to grab the other.... I dunno.

I hate to do the armchair thing, because Kemerer really did wrestle a great match. I mean, regardless of whether it was two or not, to fight out of that first throw and still have energy to wrestle that aggressively that early is very impressive.
