Mark Hall

Mark Hall is helping me solidify my take on underclassman recruiting. I don't give an s how many times he says he's down to x or y or z, I'm just glad he didn't 'commit' early and then go through all this.

High School students can get a lot out of campus visits, both official & unofficial. Love to see him taking them.

I'm still dubious he'll end up choosing PSU, but I really dig that he's giving Cael a chance while he learns all he can about each place he's considering.
I hear what you're saying but I prefer when they verbally commit in the womb - like Cael, Casey and Cody's sons undoubtedly did.;)

Keep in mind that Hall is a high school senior, so his recruiting odyssey isn't all that applicable to underclassman recruiting.

I don't give an s how many times he says he's down to x or y or z

The most recent report on Hall (that he was down to PSU and Ohio State) did not come from Hall, at least not a quote or public comment from Hall. It was tweeted by Corey Haddad, and also posted by him on a message board.

FWIW, I think HS juniors and seniors should visit a lot of campuses, and put a lot of time and thought into their college choice (whether they are an athlete or not).

With Hall, nothing would surprise me. He's not been all that outspoken about his college thoughts, and even when he has discussed things I've always found him to be rather measured, and careful with what he says.

I don't know about that, Tom. He has said more about his college recruiting than any elite recruit I can think of over the past few years.

He said a month ago that he had "two or three favorites" and a few others he was going to visit just in case. He identified the schools he considered his top five. He said he would announce ahead of time where he was going to make his official visits, and, based on the Flo article, it looks like he's doing just that.

If he ends up somewhere other than Ohio State, Penn State, Nebraska, Minnesota or Wisconsin, I would consider that a surprise.

Even those that hang out with him have no clue. This will be interesting.

He figured out my special ops pretty quickly. I need to be more subtle.

You guys up for some sacrilege this day?

At this point, I kinda hope he picks Iowa.

Not that I won't still be pounded, but here's some (admittedly not super-well-thought-out) background thinking:
- Dude's gonna make his mark individually wherever he goes, so it's really about Team Race & internal Team Lineups.
- If he goes Nebby, that's fine, but he'd still need to pull in about 4-5 top shelf dudes to hope for a team title over the firepower lined up at PSU, tOSU, OkSt & Iowa
- If he goes brutus, that's fine, too. With Snyder back and all their other young bucks, they'll definitely contend, and the PSU-tOSU battles will be epic.
- If he goes PSU, somebody pretty cool will prob get bumped. I feel like I'd rather root for McCutcheon or Hammond or Rasheed or Manville or Vincenzo or Cassar. Also, I'd hate to lose out on watching Nickal v Hall in real comp by having their battles hidden inside Lorenzo. I may lose that on weight class movements anyway, but I'm so high on Nickal that I really want to see him battle Baby Markee. Also, I might actually go from appreciative of our dominant-looking lineup(s) to somewhat embarrassed by our riches. I'd get over it of course, if Cael & Markee both wanted & got each other, but this is today and this is message board shiz talking.
- If he goes Minny....HAHAHAHAFDOOYHAOSDHHAHAA
- If he goes OkSt, gross, but ok. Certainly not as gross as Marsteller going there.
- If he goes Arizona State, that'd be hilarious. Watching Zeke Jones juggle lineups & scholly matrices as well as John Smith does.

But if he goes to Iowa....
- Iowa will contend in the 2017-2021 team races. You could contend that they already do--a B1G co-championship & a Nationals runner-up finish this past year--but I prefer an Iowa team--with Iowa fans--which has more genuine bravado, based on elite talent. As opposed to Iowa with good to great talent and a fanbase acknowledging lost talent opportunities, but still realistically hopeful. I wanna see happy co-championship pics instead of sad ones.
- If he doesn't pick Iowa, they go into even more of a Spencer Lee or bust mode, and that already sucks.
- I'd much rather PSU genuinely battle Iowa & Tom Brands, than brutus & Tom Ryan.

And lastly:
- I love Iowa fans. Iowa fans will be much more fun if they have Mark Hall.

Very provocative. Also insane.

Picking Iowa would certainly be a swerve, considering they're not on his official visit list. (Same for Sparky.)

Really Mark has already taken his trip to ASU right? He was there for an entire week during World Team Camp. Wouldnt suprise me at all if he picke ASU and tell everyone how he fell in love with Tempe during World Team Camp.

Exactly. If anybody's ever been primed to get their swerve on, it's Baby Markee. Start a sentence with 'I wouldn't be surprised...' and you can easily finish it with 5-6 teams.

If he comes the we should look like 125 open for lee if he comes
133 soriano
141 cortez
149manville
157 cenzo
165 nolf
174 hall
184 cutch or rasheed
197 cassar

Some questions about whether Hall was visiting Ohio State this weekend or next. To answer that, here's what Hall posted on Instagram:

Interesting to compare the various posters. PSU was the only one referencing goals and framed around an entire team -- and not prominently featuring Hall himself.

FYI, "Tidwell" is Apple Valley asst coach Jamell Tidwell, who wrestled for the Goofers in the early 2000s. Very curious that his name would be featured on the Tanning Bed poster.

Maybe this is all pure coincidence, but it is interesting anyway.

I noticed that too, but wasn't sure what to make of it.

could be wrong but I think Hall or someone with his permission puts those together not the schools themselves. Thats what i got from PBSs post when hall put out the PSU official notice.

Maybe flo helps with this since his announcement is live with them...??....??...

Hey Dunk, don't take it personally if Willie doesn't respond too quickly. He is working the phones hard to get Mark Hall to choose PSU!. ;)
