Michigan match

I wonder if cael will address at his press conference

#bump

This whole process just amazes me, should be pretty simple, Michigan knows our match was postponed, if they are free the Big Ten should already be organizing it.
Heck the big ten does not need to organize anything. They should just give there blessing and let the schools do their thing.

The B in Big ten stands for bureaucracy and it can suck the life out sports

While I agree with you wholeheartedly they are 'supposed' to be in charge of scheduling, right? How hard is it to match up two, or three teams that all have postponed meets and an open date? It is not rocket science. And no fans to worry about, heck, have it at the Ramada if they need a venue!!

Learned something today. Had thought the B stood for BoAndWoody.
Enjoyed just a bit of schadenfreude when, after crying for months from Buckeye Nation about not cheating their team of destiny, and the Big doing everything to bend the rules for them, they got what they wanted.

And it quickly became something they didn’t want at all

I'd like to see Howard against Michigans stud freshman. Did these two ever wrestle in HS?

Amine is going to get big brothered at 197. Maybe not by beard but I can't wait to see it at NCAA's.

Michigan State was also brought up so I am not sure if they are thinking a possible two matches? MSU and Michigan wrestle next week so I doubt they would double up. MSU also has a match against Purdue Friday.

Who exactly is gonna do that?

Since Nov 2017, Amine faced Mark and Zahid 8x. Worst loss was by 2 pts.

I don't see anybody close to their abilities at 197. And Amine was at 86 kg / 189 lb freestyle this year, so he shouldn't be too light.

Yeah, Amine is a CLEAR front runner at 197, I'd say. Adams and Schultz are good, for sure, but...

Saying you can only allow 500 people in the BJC is just plain stupid when you think about all the participants are being tested daily. You could put more then 500 diabetic 80 year olds in the colossus and there would be less risk than at any given
Walmart.

I am all about being safe.......this is insanity.

... and Adams lost over the weekend. The kid from Wyoming who beat him, got pinned in his next match.

Sloan looks good too.

Still, the weight is ripe for the picking.

Living at a higher altitude than the Wyoming campus, I’m guessing that if the match had been at WVU, there would have been a different outcome. The Wyoming kid probably has a hematocrit level 5-10% higher than Adams.

If this match happens, can someone start a third thread to let me know, so that I can get KYPSW set up?

The Mountaineers don't hunt or wrestle at sea level.

Per Wikipedia, the highest point in Charleston, WV is 1,167ft MSL. Let's assume that their wrestling complex is not at the absolute highest point in town, and round down to 1,000ft MSL.

At 1,000ft MSL, an athlete would have 99% of their maximum aerobic power that they would have at sea level. Effectively sea level.

At 7,000ft MSL, that same athlete would have 86.5% of their maximum aerobic power, if not acclimated to that altitude. Acclimatization usually takes 3-4 weeks, per most scientific literature on the topic. Even when acclimated, they'd have about 91% of their sea-level ability.

This is a sub-field of physiology that gets quite a bit of attention from academia, the DoD, etc. There's a reason that professional endurance athletes do high-altitude training camps prior to key events; they raise their blood values and increase their aerobic capacity.

Impressive - one correction WVU is in Morgantown not that it changes altitude much.
