Cass wasn't going to take any unnecessary risks against a home run hitter. He learned his lesson from last year. Smart match. (I didn't understand the second stalling call against Stencel though.)
He did step back over the line, but I thought they were engaged; seemed borderline IMHO.

Put arm on back, add all of your weight, do not move, do not use arm, do nothing. The other guy is stalling?
In the world of Iowa it is.
Yeah, not that it mattered, but that first stall warning against Stencel was bogus IMO. Neither guy was doing jack squat. Should have been another stalemate.

In the few matches I've seen this tournament of Glory, he looks like he's missing a gear. Not that he doesn't look like he'd be on the podium in March if it were today, but I've seen him look more explosive.

Ok, looking to see the same Seth Gross from the Bill Farrell (ok, Freestyle, I know, but he looked very good at that point).

Agree that 149 is weak this season, but so far no one at PSU has shown much of anything to make me "like our chances" at the weight. Hopefully that changes, but I wouldn't bank on it.:(
I would like to see how the kid who actually attempts offensive attacks have a shot against some legitimate talent.

Very disappointed in the 133 final. I was assured by District Four that Desanto would melt down when he lost. Instead, he just shook hands and walked off. BORING.
No you weren't assured of anything. I said sooner or later he will not this match. What you make shit up as you go lol. But I'm glad your disappointed. Keep with the expectations I'm sure I'll disappoint again lol

I'm sure Iowa fans don't want to hear it, but this is the weakest Midlands field in years, isn't it?

Give credit where credit is due, they are very solid up and down the lineup, and looked impressive for sure. We have our work cut out for us, totally doable but not a given as in some past years.

I really think we need a March bump from Verk and Bergy. I keep waiting for Verk to break out and he keeps disappointing, but zero points from that resume can't happen. Fingers crossed of course on Cassar.

Regardless of the dual and Big 10s 165 is huge but I suspect VJ and Marinelli are on opposite sides of the bracket and from my POV it seems like Marinelli's body breaks down with the demands of the national tourney. Only a 50/50 chance they meet in the finals.

Never really bothers me....usually just chalk it up to Terry being Terry but for some odd reason it started to grate on my nerves during this tournament.
I'm always shocked at how much the coaches give it to the refs, and not just the Iowa staff. I've heard Cunningham throw some barbs that made me feel bad lol.

Keep praying and maybe it will happen for you. Until then, us normal adults aren't going to root for a kid with some very real obstacles to undo the great progress he's made.

I'll be honest. Iowa is looking very, very good. Lugo has started to bring some offense, and he is always tough to score on. Cass is a bit better than I expected this early. Other than 184, they really are tough throughout their lineup. I also know what we are capable of, but, I'm not going to take away from Iowa is accomplishing. I hope we get healthy, as it is going to be a FUN battle to watch.

Respectfully don’t go there. Cunningham is the most tactical and level headed person you will ever meet in this sport.

Hawk fan
DeSanto will prbly beat Gross next time they wrestle if he can avoid back points scrambles and no review timeouts as Gross was able too catch a 2nd wind
Murin looks great he is pivotal in our chances he could place very high but 141 as always is a very deep weight
Lugo finally discovered his offense
Young dis much better but im still worried he wont place top 5 this year
Bull great McFadden wrestled too keep it close
Seems like Kem is fine thank god
Warner worries me he lets stronger guys dictate matches but very few 197 guys have the slick td ability he has
Cass is our savior he can be the best hwt we've had save Mocco or Lou Banach

184. Ughh. Cash or Nelson. Nels is just too small and young. If his opponent doesn't gas he struggles. Cash isnt a walk in the park for anyone but he isn't good at scoring vs top guys. Assad looks great but maybe not good enough too warrant pullin his Shirt.

Cool too see backup guys do well.

Theres alot of season left 9 more duals before BigTens.

I’m not sure why you and some others just focus on Verkleeran as Penn State’s guy at 149 ... for my 2 cents I like Gardner at 149 ... think he is every bit as worthy to take the149 spot and a helluva lot more entertaining to watch wrestle than Verkleeran

If 149 is virtually a tie in the room, I want the wrestler who wrestles an up temp style. It's pretty clear to me who that wrestler is and hope he gets more of a shot to show what he can do. Pushing the pace can make all the difference in some matches and also gives you more of an opportunity to catch someone for bonus points. We will need as many points as possible from this weight at Nationals to win it.

If I wanted to watch PSU wrestlers in 2-1 matches I'd watch reruns of matches from the Sunderland years.

Lol whatever I'm not getting I to some desanto debate you apparently do not understand what my post said and I'm not rooting for the kid to fail. Happy new year

We need at least 8 scoring wrestlers, maybe 9 since I hear this Iowa team will challenge 170 pts at Nationals.
