I’m sure some here will be watching. Heading to Hanover (actually Abbottstown) for the day, so will show up here occasionally for results.

Thanks in advance.

Dang, Midlands ain't what Midlands used to be.
No it’s not. Losing half the programs in D1, add some other tournament, and clamp down on # of competition dates and you have the result. The South Beach Duals has pulled some good teams away from both the Midlands and the Scuffle with a familiar format and well....a nicer location.

I’m a skier. As a result I don’t usually go to bowl games but if Penn State cooks up the Killington Klassic, Steamboat Stomp or Woodshed Beating in Whistler....I’m there. :D

with previously mentioned beers.

Yea just had a quick look at the brackets ,the Midlands looks a little soft. 141 where murin is #1 seed is very week, Kemdog is only wrestling in duals until the bigs to keep him fresh.

Out of pocket soon, so thanks again to all that post results.

As for the tournament, it may not be what it once was, but it still has nearly 70 top-20 guys if everyone shows. Not bad at all, imo.

Oh, and who do y'all have winning 133.

This guy thinks Midlands is soft:

teasdale in the bracket at 133.

not sure if action has really started because there's no video yet, but floarena is showing liam cronin beating antonion lorenzo 29-16 with 51 seconds left in the 2nd period.

Going with the homeboy, Rivera to beat both Gross and DeSanto.

Midlands still looks like a decent field, certainly much better than the Scuffle. Be interesting to see what tournament(s) we go to next year. From a fan perspective I wouldn't mind South Beach Duals at all, just based on the weather.

Just be careful where you make fun of The Iowa Open... lol

Also: I would say the Scuffle is weaker this year, no?

Seems like I'm saying this way more frequently than I ever would have anticipated back in the day, but the HWT field looks interesting. A glance, listing seed, wrestler, and InterMat ranking:

1-Cassioppi (#4)
2-Hillger (#5)
3-Stencel (#8)
4-Heino (#12)
5-Isley (#15)
6-Hokit (#13)
7-McKiernan (nr)
8-Elam (nr)
9-Q.Miller (nr)

I believe those last 3 guys are shirting. I'm very curious to see what Hokit does up a weight (if he is even in wrestling shape, yet). That top 4 should be fun to watch, though. Keep an eye on Elam.

With Teasdale at 133, and with Teas repeatedly beating on DeSanto in the room I would think Teasdale has a strong shot at 133. As long as he doesn't run into any D3 guys.

I also like the Duals format. Those are usually exciting days. Been to Open style Duals in HS where we would borrow wrestlers from other teams if we had a gap. Fun stuff and lots of wrestling and cheering going on all the time.

In both matches, he's been unwilling to wrestle in close quarters, instead jumping backward to create space, hopping in place, shooting from space, and stopping dead on his knees as soon as he gets a leg. That's basically the tale of the tape.
yea.. maybe needs some more confidence. His takedown in OT was nice - on the right track.

anybody know the schedule? I assume rd 16 this afternoon then quarters tonight? But , I dont like to assume.

Schedule per Northwestern site. I assume those were central so adjusted them to Eastern after copying. Hopefully I did that correct. No idea how many consolation rounds they are wrestling today but I assume a lot since there is a bunch to get through.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 29
  • 10:30 AM – First Session (10 Mats) – (Championship Rounds 1 & 2, Wrestlebacks)
  • 8:00 PM – Second Session (10 Mats) – (Quarterfinals, Wrestlebacks)
MONDAY, DECEMBER 30
  • 1:00 PM – Third Session (5 Mats) – (Semis, consolation, 7th place match)
  • 8:00 PM – Fourth Session (3 Mats) – (1st, 3rd, 5th place matches)
    • Opening ceremonies at 6:30 p.m., Awards ceremony to conclude at 9:15 p.m.
    • Midlands Hall of Fame Inductions will be prior to the final session

I was hoping to see improvement over last season from little Realbuto (149 for Brown), but he went 0-2 and is done.

Army currently in 7th place with 22.5 points, only 5.5 pts out of 2nd. Iowa does have a commanding lead on the top spot (38 pts). I am concerned.

Just heard them announce in the background that bout 446 will be the last bout of the session so it looks like they will do Round of 16 and this round of consolations together like they have been and then break until tonight. Down to 24 in each weight heading into tonight's session.
