MSU has their hands full

this is like last year's Iowa game....the Spartans would be better off not scoring a touchdown.....kill clock and kick for the win

May have been better for Utah St if the touchdown still and they got the ball back with a full 2:30 on the clock.

Not buying MSU this year - they have some talent but do not have the horses PSU, OSU, or even Michigan have. I think they’ll finish 4th in the division.

Honestly, if it wasn’t for obscure weather conditions last season they would have had two more losses.

Scouting report: They are very average up front offensively. 18 can beat you if you don't bracket him. 14 will hurt you if you don't get any pressure on him. 3 is still a good back, not a great back. Defensively, they can be thrown on, but still hard to run on.

Bring our A game and we win comfortably. Not, and it's a toss up. They're not all that. Another note: This time, in case of a 6 hour delay, bring our washer dryers. Outside of another 6 hour delay, they're not getting out of Happy Valley with a win.

2nd and 1, 3rd and 1...plenty of time left, you have a timeout, and the clock stops on a 1st down. RUN THE GD BALL, UTAH STATE!!!! With as much as that QB was getting yards running and burning Sparty with the read option, they would have easily grabbed the 1st down and kept that drive going instead of throwing those 2 dumb passes.

We need to chuck #18 at the LOS each and every time. The skinny kid will get frustrated.

As of right now, MSU’s Achilles heel is their OLine.
They were VERY young last year (maybe even younger than PSU) - but got some good experience. I am sure their staff is hoping/banking on them progressing quite a bit this year.
Still looked a little ragged in Week 1.
Starting center was benched midway through the first quarter. Don't see that very often. Hell, we saw maybe the 4 worst offensive lines in our history these past years, and I can't recall any of our guys being benched like that.

They seemed really slow on the edges.

This. If you’re exposed in game 1 as being slow (Utah State), then you do not have a top 10-15 team. With our athletes, speed, and playing at home, I see us pulling away in the second half by 14+ points. Remember that OSU beat Sparty 48-3 last year. If it wasn’t for rain, we also would’ve had them in EL.

Not sure what to make of this. Doesn't MSU usually have a few games like this each year where they are in a dog fight with a lower tier team? I'm sure they will be a different team when PSU plays them.

It looks like usu has some pretty good players.Their offensive pace is tough to deal with.
