Here’s what I feel about this game. I’m sticking with my earlier stance that the Iowa game was the key for this team. I said win that one and the next 2 dominoes will also fall, i.e. Michigan and MSU. Still feel that way, but I don’t think Michigan will be a walk in the park. If there is a blowout, PSU will get it, but I think the betting line is about right.
Here are my concerns……and they’re mostly intangibles. Michigan got lucky in that they got 2 cream puffs after Wisky blasted them. That enabled them to at least regain their balance and work on some stuff. I think they’ve very likely gotten better since Wisky. Secondly, this is Michigan’s opportunity to get their season back and I think they’ll play very tough.
All that said, PSU has better athletes in general than Michigan. We’ve recruited as well if not better (my opinion, not a Rivals ranking stat) and I think we’ve definitely coached our guys better. This morning Greg McElroy and Danny Kanell both said that the key for PSU is stop the run and make Patterson beat you. They don’t believe he can against a tough opponent.
Michigan will play very hard, but this is an opportunity, in a high ratings white out game for PSU to strut it’s stuff. It may be tough sledding at times, but I think in the end, the better team wins. And right now, that’s Penn State. Nittany Lions 24 – Wolverines 14.
