I believe Tate is a WR and a good one at that. He is going to command some serious $$$
I tried to double check the information on Tate and didn't see it, but he is easily first round NFL talent and I could see how he might not want to play second fiddle to Jeremiah Smith. On the other hand, Ohio state has about three other five star receivers, and as good as Tate is, he won't be missed that much at Ohio State if he is really leaving.
Carnell Tate I believe was a starting WR for OSU. Very athletic. Probably only one year of eligibility. Doubtful portal to PSU given Julian Flemings experience.
I hate to say it, but I think Penn State would be really good for Tate if Penn State is willing to pay the big bucks. Tate would be far and away the number one receiver and would probably amass good statistics.
I see your point but Tate and Fleming are very different. Could be a factor but shouldn't be. This will be about money
I was thinking PSU would jump on an opportunity like this . He could be the missing link to A NC . Hopefully they have a booster lined up for this situation .

Doubt that it has any influence. However he would have to evaluate how good Fleming was playing and how good the PSU scheme is. Unfortunately for OSU, he would get more balls from Allar than he would from Sayin at OSU. Wouldn't be surprised if USC makes a push for him.
On OSU side, the 4th receiver, Innis is a five star, and has said that Ryan Day is the best coach in college football. Not like very good players won't be stepping in for Tate if he leaves.
It would be a negative recruiting tool. Fleming came from a place where he was mildly productive and disappeared in our offense. Our WR development has not even been average. Could make things harder to recruit that position.
I don't think it's that easy. First you have to have the money. Second you don't want the other star players pi$$ed that their deal is low in comparison. Next thing you know they'll all be renegotiating and threatening to enter the spring portal.

No star player should be livid about us getting the #1 WR they need to win a title.
If they want to leave then go but it's Franklin's job to manage that

Fleming came from OSU and was barely targeted this past season. Combination of factors but no doubt Tate would speak to Fleming about his time @ PSU.

Good points, but Tate could put you over the top to win a natty. In my mind, worth at least 3 mil to PSU.
Didn't see them mentioned, but Spindler and Coogan, 2 of Notre Dame's starting OL entered the portal. Spindler (RG) got hurt vs us, but returned for the title game.
Honestly, sorry to hear that. Starting to look like a portal free for all. If large numbers of starting players leave, not good for the sport.

Maybe--you also have to wonder if ND has other kids they think are going to be ready and don't want to overpay guys to get them to stay

I doubt that Julian Fleming and his experience would have any impact on Tate. Fleming produced just what I expected him to produce both at Ohio State and at PSU. Tate was up close and personal with Fleming's experience at OSU.
Well if the price is right, it probably wouldn't matter to Tate.

Likewise and I've looked all over. If true, however, that would be a HUGE pickup in an area of need for PSU
