Boise State and SMU say hi. They won't be around next year to kick around.

Ah, probably '26 before you can skirt them. Fair point you made. I don't disagree. However, we DID make the semifinals. And we were a bad pick away from overtime. It's not like we were outclassed.

Not following you in '26 we skirt them? Skirt who?

We have a shot, of course. Just really concerned we won't have any WRs thus any kind of legitimate downfield WR oriented passing game. And like the broken record that I am our inability to make the clutch plays in the big games.

SMU, Boise. I don't believe that the seeding problem gets fixed before '26 and there is always going to be somebody get in like SMU. Heck, the teams people preferred didn't fare so hot in their bowls vs opponents considered much weaker.

Based on our 3 losses in '24, if Allar can continue to grow (aka his '23 to '24 growth occurs between '24 to '25) then we could reasonably win 2 more close styled games against tough opponents.

You hit the nail on the head. All of those star OSU WRs just love Hartline. He's only 38 and still possesses a few of his NFL skills. He's not a talk only WR coach. His players will tell you that he actually shows them how it's suppose to be done with his skills and pushes them hard

All of those 1st round WRs from the last 3 or 4 years will tell you how glad they were to play for Hartline and couldn't have imagined playing for anyone else. He has to be the top position coach-recruiter in the country
Why wouldn't they love him? He's pumping out first round NFL draft picks. If I were a top WR recruit I'm going to OSU too, and would barely even consider PSU.

People don't realize that the Zach Smith controversy was the best thing that could have happened to Ohio State. He was Ohio state's worst position coach and he was replaced by Brian Hartline, who was a grad assistant when Smith was fired.

To those who will inevitably claim that Urban Meyer and Ohio State soiled themselves by trying to protect Zach Smith, the municipality where Smith was charged eventually released all the records and after the release the entire controversy went dead; there being no evidence that anyone from Ohio State tried to obtain favorable treatment for Zach Smith.

Forgot all about that idiot. Is he still around ?

Moving on from Zach Smith.

Is the new OSU QB starter, Sayin, going to be really good like Stroud and Fields? Is he mobile? I know he was a 5 star.

If he is the real deal and you bring Judkins back then your offense will be really good.

He is supposed to be super accurate, but he's not that big. Something like 6'2 and 205 lb. When recently interviewed, he stated that one of his goals for the spring is to add weight. Also, tavien St Clair, was the number one or number two recruit in all of the 2025 class and there would be an outside chance that he might be able to start.

Judkins declared.

Smart thing for him. Not the least bit unexpected. Running backs have a short shelf life. I think OSU already has one running back from the portal, who from the surface doesn't look particularly exceptional, but you never know. The third running back, Peoples look pretty good in the limited opportunities he received.

Henderson and Judkins was a great match for all involved. Henderson had been injury prone in year 2 and 3. Judkins probably didn't want 20 rushes a game in year 3. Both stayed healthy and teams couldn't stop both of them all the time while they rotated and remained fresh.

Donaldson is a good back. More of an inside guy, he lacks the speed of the guys he's replacing, but definitely a thumper (believe he's 235-240 lbs). He isn't the home run that Judkins was, but he's a solid double that could thrive in your offense as long as the OL can run block.

The odds say the #3 at OSU is going to have a better overall career in football than being #1 at PSU. Still not even close.
In Marvin Harrison's freshman year, here are receivers one through four. 1. Garrett Wilson. 2
Chris Olave 3. Jackson Smith Njigba. 4. Marvin Harrison. On top of that Jameson Williams transferred out the year before when he was the number four receiver at Ohio State.

Holy crap ! That's mind-boggling. I could be wrong, but weren't all of those guys 1st round picks ?

Yes
Wilson through Jameson Williams were 8 9 and 10 in the first round. A year later, JSN was something like 20th in the first round and last year Marvin Harrison was 4th in the first round.
Also, Emeka Ebuka was on the team with Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave.

He is the grandson of Earl Bruce. That whole thing was definitely a bad look for OSU.
Yep, bad look and wasn't the Smith stuff kind of the beginning of the end for Urban at OSU although he didn't do anything wrong personally.........he did let Smith go on with his BS if I remember everything correctly (could be wrong). Wasn't Urban close to Bruce?

I think Urban was somewhat close to Bruce. Not totally sure on that but sounds familiar. It was just an unfortunate state of events because you could say that Smith was kind of part of OSU football royalty and then he turns out to be this embarrassment. It is also another chapter in the Urban Meyer is shady saga.

OSU has about the same number of busts as psu. OSU only had 4 WRs with more than 5 catches this year. Two of them were looking to transfer.

OSU can't take them all.

Godwin, Robinson, Hamler, Dotson, Washington, Tinsley.
Your point? Only 2 of those guys have had good NFL careers and both preceded Hartline's hire as OSU's WR coach. Hartline is churning out NFL talent year after year. If you think PSU's WRs are performing close to their level you need to take off the blue and white glasses.

Wonder if Hartline wants a big raise :)

Using Mitchell Tinsley in a debate about whether OSU or PSU have better receivers probably ends the argument. And not in the way you think.

Since Hartline's been there, you're trotting out Hamler, Dotson, Washington, and Tinsley against McLaurin, Olave, Wilson, Smith-Njigba, Harrison, Egbuka, Tate, and Jeremiah Smith?

Yikes.

I'd rather compare tight ends.

He's an OSU grad and it's been pretty much known that he's staying at OSU until an OC or HC job at a major power
I'm surprised someone at least a lesser program hasn't given him a shot at OC, especially the way the guy can recruit.
