I'm surprised someone at least a lesser program hasn't given him a shot at OC, especially the way the guy can recruit.
I'm sure he's received calls, he'd pretty much have to at this point given his track record. He's among the best position coaches in the country, regardless of position. OSU is doing a good job hanging onto him, unfortunately. If he ever does make the jump I hope it's somewhere outside of the Big 10, assuming it's not to PSU.

Your point?

No PSU coach EVER churned out WRs on the level of hartline.

Do you now expect psu wrs be on that level?
Perhaps you should read the rest of the thread, as I was responding to someone using the likes of Tinsley and Parker Washington to somehow say that PSU WRs are on par with what OSU is doing under Hartline even with their WR2s and WR3s. Right now it's a fact that WRs are more likely to have an impactful college and NFL career going to OSU to be WR3 than coming to PSU to be WR1. That needs to be rectified immediately, there is no reason we shouldn't have WR1s that can at least perform at an OSU WR3 level, that's my minimum expectation. We don't need to try to be better than their WR1s or their WR room in aggregate, that would be a fool's errand while Hartline is there. But we need someone in our room to step up and do something. We haven't had an impactful college WR since Dotson and we haven't put one that has made an impact in the NFL since Hartline was hired.

Nobody said they were in par.

The receivers don't stop you and most fans from picking PSU to beat OSU every season.

Eh, he was never realistic. If he was going to leave Hartline for money, which was unlikely in the first place, then it would be for a pass-happy system like Oregon or maybe Texas. Not for this offense and a WR coach that is having enormous problems developing a WR threat.

People are oversimplifying NIL. A lot of these kids are driven by money, but it's not ONLY money. It's money + the right environment. A tight end or defensive back or edge rusher would have great reasons to come to Penn State. A stud WR? That's a hard sell. And now we're in a vicious cycle. Poor WR production = poor WR recruiting. Poor WR recruiting = poor WR production.
Earlier in the thread, we were talking about girlfriends!!!! Can we use NIL money to recruit the girlfriends of some of these wide outs?!!! 🥰😏😉

All the more reason to lean into our running game and use the 2023 Michigan model instead of the 2024 Ohio State model.

We have the backs and the OL to be the best ground game in the country. Our defense may not be 2023 Michigan level, but complementary football goes a long way and our defense will be good enough.

Michigan had crappy WRs and won a title. It can happen. Is it difficult? Absolutely. Impossible? No. Our TEs will be good as always.
Michigan had WRs that are playing in NFL

Ronnie Bell is barely an NFL receiver and Roman Wilson played in one game, I believe, for the Steelers this past season, and basically infuriated Tomlin because he couldn’t get on the field because of constant injuries; those two have one foot out of the NFL. You’re certainty not talking about OSU caliber receivers who played on the 2021 through 2023 Michigan teams.

Roman Wilson was a better college receiver than anyone we had on the roster last season and probably this coming season.

Based on what? 48 catches for 789 yards on a loaded team with an NFL QB and on dominant team that ran the ball bringing oposing defenses up to the LOS to try and defend the run. Wallace had 46 for 720, pretty even with Wilson.

Wilson is not exactly a contested catch machine either and probably couldn't put together the contested catchs on film that Hudson's highlights include.

So I don't see what makes Wilson a better college receiver than anyone on last year's roster given the similar statistics to the very average Wallace, or looking ahead to the PSU 2025 WR's. And I'm hoping the Steelers take 2 WR's in the upcoming draft and let Wilson sit in the tub for someone else going forward.

He was better than Wallace. Hudson isn't considered a high level NFL WR like Wilson was--whether or not he lives up to that we'll see.
Steelers need to move Pickens then take two WRs

Wilson made some clutch catches in big games. Our guys did none of that.

What "big games" did Michigan have to rely on passing to win in 2023? I'd be interested to see if his highlights includes even as many contested catches as Hudson's highlights show.

Wilson didn't make any clutch or contested catches against PSU. He might not make the 2 deep at OH St

I suggest you review the Rose Bowl semifinal game versus Alabama. Roman Wilson caught 4 passes averaging 18 yards and a TD.

On the game tying drive late in the 4th quarter with 2:10 left Wilson caught his longest pass of 29 yards to put Michigan at the Bama 5. Then on 2nd and goal from the 4 Wilson caught the tying TD pass with 1:34 left. Those are clutch plays. Our receivers caught nada in the semifinal game, nothing, zero, zilch.
