against Okie State. Man, coaches across the Big and rest of the country must be shaking their heads after watching that dominant performance Sunday.

They've been shaking their heads since 2009 when Cael announced he was heading to HV. They knew there was a sleeping giant in central Pa. It was brilliant who ever came up with the coup!

8 of 10, yes.

10 of 10, Cortez and Lee/Moss both have to beat Brock and Heil.

Lets take a look at your hypothesis:
125: PSU solid favorite
133: OSU solid favorite (just not enough on Cortez yet to assume that he would beat Brock)
141: OSU favorite for now (I believe Nick Lee will be good enough to beat him but a NCAA champ gets the benefit of the doubt for now)
149: PSU strong favorite
157: PSU lock
165: PSU solid favorite
174: PSU favorite
184: PSU lock
197: tossup (Weigel is game and nobody really knows, except for Spyker, if Cassar will be beating out Cutch next year)
Heavy: PSU strong favorite

So I see a range of 7-9 with at least 1 upset having to happen to get to 10.

They knew. Everyone knew what was coming. They all knew deep down inside, if Penn State ever hired the right man for the job, that the giant would wake up, and the sport would be turned upside down.

When the hire was made, those in the know, realized what would happen.

And everybody else! Wade Schalles said this consistently for probably 10 years before Cael was hired. PSU should have tried to bring in someone like this after Fritz was done coaching. Lots and lots of alums were pushing for it even then.

I'm glad they didn't though. I couldn't imagine anyone else as coach besides Cael.

I'm curious as to who was being pushed for when Fritz left in 1998. Guessing Koll.

Other than Smith, who would've been a needle mover then?

The last 2 years were the years Ok St and Iowa targeted for NC runs. for various reasons both look to fall short. Next year will not be great for either but Ok st should be better than Iowa. On paper its tO$U and us next year and the following year just too much incomplete data other than we should have a strong team again.
