Was checking out the quarter finals matches and saw that Edmond Ruth is in there for the freshmen at 152.

Courtney lost in semis to Sammy Hepler. Great match lots of action. Hepler caught Courtney for 2 &2 at the end of the 2nd period to go up 7-3. Then to start the 3rd Courtney tried to stand up and helper cradled him and won 10-4. Both kids awesome in scrambles. Courtney wasn't dominated as the score may imply. 2 brain farts really. Will be interesting to see how he finishes. oh and he has his bison legend singlet on.

Ruth in the finals but didn't watch any of his matches.

Man, you guys are brutal! I'm guessing spyker made an honest mistake and didn't realize that there are now grade divisions at the NHSCA tournament.

Not really related but...I am/was at NHSCA's today and ran into Coach Cunningham. We are a very small program from way out of state (so essentially nobody he needed to talk to), he took the time to chat us up for 5 minutes, ask how my kids had done, just a really cool, humble dude. I have had run ins with several d1 coaches over the course of the weekend, Cunningham was by far the most friendly and likeable.

Quit yelling, you're hurting my eyes.
Lol...Excited about this Kid...For those who have not seen him. Ruth is very very good for a Freshman....He is built EXACTLY like his brother...In most cases like older brother the bigger the match the better he wrestles....

Ag your right i didn't know and it was an honest mistake. Hey like Cael has said in practice many times in front of me and the team. Everyone makes mistakes but put your heart into it....

That is so nice to hear. Thanks for posting.

Watched Edmonds matches from his "freshman only" bracket and he wrestles high, but with his athleticism doesn't seem to bother him. Edmond looks to be more technically sound then Ed at same age but Ed may have been a hair more athletic. I don't remember Ed doing the national circuit in HS until he went to blair. Am I wrong?? Not much room to be better than Ed was in college on the mat but Edmond appears to have similar high trajectory and very firm foundation.

If you have flo pro, go to floarena and click on the brackets "freshman" 152. You can then click on the matches within floarena brackets and then watch the matches.

Well, that's high praise indeed. Young Mr. Ruth will be one to watch.

Wonder if he goes the prep school route at some point. I imagine there would be a big to-do if he suddenly ended up enrolled at, say Central Dauphin, or another traditional public school power in his area.

Ruth got decked by a freshman in the finals.

Serious note...PA won team titles w freshman and sophomores

Gage Garcia. Mike's kid. 8th grader at Southern Columbia. Wiped the mat with his opponents.

Southern is loaded for bear, and he's gonna be a big part of it. Guessing he'll be 170 next year.

Something in the water in Catawissa, PA?

They seem to produce an inordinate number of wrestlers and football players

More than a few folks in D4 think of Southern the way Lehigh Valley folks think of Beca.

Garcia lived in a neighboring school district a couple years ago. He's not yet in 9th grade, so the transfer is legit according to PIAA rules.

Thanks; going way back to living in PA in the 1970's and 1980s, I recall the local powers as being Mt. Carmel for football, Shik for wrestling, and Milton and Line Mountain for small school wrestling.

Just following from afar, looks like Selinsgrove is pretty consistently good in football, and Southern Columbia is a small school power.

I posted on here a few years back youtube videos of gage from PJWs when he was younger. The kid is just nails and he has....brothers...several. All good athletes and great wrestlers.

Dad isnt a pusher either, boys have that internal fire that drives them.

So we shouldn't expect to see any long-winded rants from "Michael Garcia" on the Ohio boards?

Garcia is the real deal. He could be a 4x champ at the upper weights in PA if he stays healthy, since he plays football with reckless abandon. He's a bad bad man.

Garcia Won a PAJW Jr. High State Championship a couple weeks back. Won every match by Fall including a :26 Fall in the Finals.
