No WVU tix for me.

Yes, or some will opt to drive out there the day before and get lodging overnight to make it more convenient. I was hoping for a 3:30pm start.
Yep...Morgantown is similar to Happy Valley in that they are hotel-challenged. But their stadium holds 60k whereas ours holds 107k.

My father in law went to several PSU-WVU games in Morgantown, said they were the worst fAnn base he ever saw. Calling them rude was being kind, spat on and threw rocks at PSU fans including senior citizens.
Yeah, WVU fans can be rough and hated us on a similar level to Pitt fans. Folks should be prepared to deal with unruly assholes.

Yet another reason people prefer to watch the game on TV. People suck especially crowds lol
I've gone to a half dozen away games and my experiences have been almost completely positive. I steer away from college kids and drunks. PSU has our share of those. But I will also say that the Sandusky scandal kind of killed the band wagon jumpers and those that attended games were much more professional and dedicated.

The problem is booze, like it or not. Don't drink and avoid those that do and you won't have any problem. I'd also add it doesn't help to be an idiot before during or after the game by cheering or taunting other fans. If you act professionally, don't drink and avoid those that have been drinking, you'll have zero problems. In fact, you'll have a great experience.

See, having to do that just to enjoy a game isn't worth it to me anymore. I'd rather watch with friends and/or family, have a few (maybe a dozen) drinks, spend the money I could have spent on tickets to buy food and beverages for everyone and I'll still be able to watch any other game I want that day. Saturdays, for me, are about college football not just Penn State football. Same with Sundays and the NFL. Penn State is just the outcome I care the most about.

There's no right or wrong here but I think each generation that comes along has less and less interest in going to live events. The video production is so good now it's a better view than being in person and dealing with that inevitable drunk fan.

The last Steelers game I went the cops had to escort two Browns fans (both women lol) out for hitting chairs, throwing beer, etc. You can't control that no matter what actions you take and that's just the reality of attending live sporting events.

I'd go to Penn State playoff game but that's it. There's zero chance I'd be driving 3 hours to Morgantown for a noon kick then driving back. That sounds awful but to each their own.

The main problem with college games are the students in packs, most of whom would act like cowards if they were by themselves, and that goes for PSU students too. I've attended PSU games at OSU, Michigan, ND, Pitt, as well as many other places, and always have worn PSU clothing. I honestly can say that the only time that anybody said anything negative to me was when an OSU co-ed taunted to me as I was leaving Ohio Stadium after the 1998 game; some Michigan frat guys jokingly said something to me when I walked past their house before the 2002 game but it was good-natured. Interestingly, I've never encountered any negative treatment when I've attended the Pitt games in Pittsburgh, possibly because I'm from here and know what areas to avoid. Moreover, when I attend games at OSU, I always attend the Skull Session at St. John's Arena, and nobody ever has said a negative word to me.

I've also attended two Steelers games in Cleveland (1993 when Eric Metcalf returned a punt for a td, and 1995 which was the last Steelers-Browns game in Cleveland before the Browns left) and wore PSU clothing rather than Steelers clothing, and nobody said anything to me.

I agree with you about also acting modestly when you go to an away venue. If you do that and hang around adults and children, especially if the game is during the day, you should be all right.

wow, you and I attended two obscure games: 2002 @ Michigan and 1995 Steelers/Browns. Any chance you had aa dog bone in your pocket after the game? It was a cold day and me and a few friends took dog bones dog chews and dropped them into Steeler fan's pockets when they weren't looking or aware. It was funny.

Anyway, that very same UM game was the only time I had a negative experience at a PSU game home or away. A UM student got into my young son's face and yelled "We Own Penn State" (a take on 'we are penn state). Several UM fans grabbed him and pulled him away telling him not to be an ass. My son went to OSU and in his four years, never lost to UM and took great pride in that from that day. (a horribly officiated game BTW, perhaps the worst I'd ever seen as many UM fans actually apologized to us). Lastly, one of my favorite lines came from that day. We were parking at UM and didn't know how far of a walk it was to the stadium. So I asked the parking attendant how far of a walk it was and he said "about two beers and a cigarette".

Regarding the 1995 Browns-Steelers game, I just recall that the Browns' fans were more intent on expressing their hatred towards Modell than harrassing Steelers' fans.

Also, regarding the 2002 Michigan game, my uncle and I were sitting in the endzone where the OT was played. I honestly can say that no Michigan fan said anything negative to us after the game, and we had a pretty far walk to the car; we parked in a small lot on the main street across from the golf course. That was another very frustrating Michigan loss, as Michigan of course tied the game very late, and then you had the Tony Johnson catch that was ruled a non-catch, and the obligatory ending in OT; you knew that Michigan was scoring a td after PSU only was able to kick a field goal.

Yep, we are on the five-yard line. I recall the PSU fans were in the endzone. I also recall them calling PSU for lining up offsides in OT along with a couple of roughing the punter calls that were bad.

Define “layup” using monetary terms if you will? Also, do you have cash app, Venmo, etc?
Define layup? A team we'd beat 99 times out of 100. You all seem to think accepting WVU for what they are means we win by 40. It means even if it's close after 3 quarters I'll have to tell everyone in the game thread to relax again this year. It's a game that's unacceptable for a program like Penn State to lose.

Back in the day, it often wasn’t considered a safe place to visit, especially for a night game with the drinking. I’m not sure it’s at that level still as they’ve been pretty mediocre for a while.

I was at the game in Morgantown a few years ago against a really bad Pitt team. WVU was just a win away from going to the national title. They lost that game and I remember watching WvU fans literally break the metal bleachers, rip them apart, and throw them a section over.

How many points are you comfortable giving up in a “layup” anyway? And you didn’t answer my question entirely. Do you have any sort of cash app? I’m willing to throw down money, and plenty of it, if I’m spotted the “layup” points you speak of.

I'm saying Penn State wins...you disagree?
Again...its not about how much they win by but you're not intelligent enough to comprehend that apparently. Read what I wrote again then form a real response.

lol. Ok Karen. Figured a “layup” was worth something to you.

You're still not making any sense. You asked for how I define a layup, I answered and you rambled nonsense because you don't want to accept they're a weak opponent.

Cheapest tickets on Ticketmaster for the WVU game are now $298 each.
