...are only sophomores and a freshman. You guys think Nolf can stay at 157 for two more years? Because Hall isn't big for 174, I can see him staying there for 3-4 years and I think Nickal cleans his clock if he bumps up. So what happens to Joseph if Nolf can't hold 157 for two more years?

I don't see any reason for Nolf to bump up unless he wants to go after iMar. If the case, Joseph would have to manage his weight closely and move down. But I imagine he would have a ton of success. The people who look at Joseph and see someone who has bulked well past 157 must have a different set of eyes than I do. He's a fine sized 165, but he could do 157. He just wouldn't like it.

Don't see Joseph ever having to sit.

I believe Nolf can hold 157 for 2 more years because we have no reason to believe he can't.Also, Jason has the biggest tank in collegiate wrestling as pretty good evidence that he's feeling ok.

Joseph isn't sitting. He is a 4 year starter. He's that good. I think Jason is a career 157lber, though.

I think next years "best" lineup is

125 Suriano
133 Cortez
141 Nick Lee
149 Zain
157 Nolf
165 Joseph
174 Hall
184 Bo
197 MM or Cassar
285 Nevills

Of course this assumes that everyone is able to make weight at these weights. I don't think there will be anyone that will outgrow these weights by next year but you never know. I think everyone should be able to hold these weights if they are told to tailor their conditioning routine accordingly. PSU doesn't really seem to have any guys that look huge for their weight or seem to have trouble with making weight.

I think this is the lineup that breaks the all time NCAA points record.

My point is that if Nolf can't hold 157 comfortably then Joseph is out of luck.

That is likely the case if Joseph can't get down to 157. But I don't think anyone is anticipating Nolf having to go up to 165 unless he is asked to.

Nolf is staying at 157 next year....Cenco 165....No change....Cassar 197....Law will wrestle off for 33....

I assume you've seen Nolf on the mat. Does he look like a large 157 too you?

After his RS-Fr year, DT *looked* like he'd make 157 easy for another couple years. There aren't many 4-time finalists that compete at the same weight for four years, right?

I don't understand where any of this is coming from. Nolf doesn't look like a big 157lber and we've never been given any indication that he won't be able to compete at 157lbs the next two years.

Yet here we are having an argument for no other reason than to have an argument. Why did you bother making this thread to argue this?

Joseph is like 5'7" or 5'8" and has dad bod. He could make 157 again.

But it won't matter. Think Nolf stays down.

Hell, I could make 157. Doesn't mean I want to be miserable for 3-4 months straight. Nolf looks close to six feet, I just don't see him at 157 for all four years.

Probably 5'10". Slightly shorter than I am.
He could stay 157 or not. His dad is bigger and my guess is Jason probably has one more growth period in him.

Regardless what everybody thinks, Nolf to 165 next year would not shock me. If one year ago someone had proposed Nickal would wrestle 184 this year the majority would have dismissed that possibility as ridiculous also.

I also believe if Cenzo had to, he could cut to, hold and train and compete effectively at 157.

Not true re Nickal at all. It has been speculated all along that he would move up and might eventually wind up at 197.

I said moving up to 184 THIS YEAR, the majority would have uttered ridiculous. The reason being Dean was at 184 and it was assumed Hall would redshirt.

My response had nothing to do with 2 or 3 years removed from last season.

2015 March HS SR: 152 State Champ
2015 November 22, college TRFR: 157-Pound Mat Town Open Champ (4-0, 4TFs)
2015 December 6, TRFR Nittany Lion Open, missed weight at 157, DNC
2016 January 1, TRFR; Southern Scuffle, missed weight at 157, DNC
2016 February 6, TRFR; Messiah Open 165-Pound Champ (4-0, 2pins, TF & MD)

I don't have links for the 157 missed weight tourneys. The only evidence is hearsay, but it's not really been contested. Not hearsay, the NLO was in his home gym, and he was registered for the Scuffle, but didn't compete.

You could argue that he wasn't as incentivized to make 157 for the 2015 NLO & the 2016 Scuffle as he would be if Nolf bumped up, but at what point do you allow that Biology + Performance Evidence > Hypothetical Eyeball Test?

He made 145 just 6 months prior to NLO. I remember Willie-- who seems to know Joseph-- joking around calling him a knucklehead for his issues with weight management when he really shouldn't.
