Official Pitt sinks thread

That's not necessarily something to brag about. If Franklin recruits so much better than Pitt then why did Pitt play us rather evenly on our own field? They could have easily won that game.
Recruiting is a good indicator for teams with potential to win national championships, it's not always a good indicator of which team is going to win on any given day. Michigan's performance at Wisconsin a perfect example of that.

21-0 Pitt.

Even if it was 21-0 UCF right now, I'd take a 17-10 victory over a rival in ANY game we face them. That goes for games against Pitt, Ohio State, Michigan.. any team.

We played poorly and won and that’s because we have more talent...recruiting.

The ACC top to bottom is a fraud, has been for years.

Indeed. It's a hell of a lot easier to be a top 10 team year after year when you're beating up on inferior competition week after week. Even if you win the big games, you're far less likely to stumble when you play everyone else if the majority of the teams you play are crap.

Just ask Florida State in the 90s.

... Or UCF over the past 2 years.

Go Pitt... get these UCF bandwagoners off their soapboxes. Y'all play NOBODY.

Exactly. It took a LOT more talent to eek out a close win.

So then, what do you expect when the teams are equally matched, or heaven forbid, our opponent fields a team with better players?

So you've cherry-picked one win out of (how many?) to formulate an "expectation." Have you had any training in statistics?

No... you asked what I expect. That's what I expect, when we play teams that have more talent then we do. You didn't ask me how many times it's been done.

Calm down killer.

As a fan, when I think about the outcome of games against Pittsburgh, I'll always be happy to get the W. You act like Pitt hasn't shown any pulse recently to warrant them giving us a challenge. Pitt has more top 10 wins then we do over the past 4 years.

Just ask # 2 Miami, or eventual national champion #2 Clemson in 2017 & 2016.

That's fair. As for me, I will distinguish between a "hope" and an "expectation." As a fan, I hope we win all of our games.

Possible? Yes. Likely? No.

Funny seeing an ACC ref calling a facemask on a Pitt player. After last week, I thought the ACC refs suffered from macular degeneration when Pitt committed egregious fouls? Or, is this not an ACC crew?

I don’t know, ask Michigan.

Not sure why you would cite a game that doesn't in any way support the positions you tend to make, but so be it.

It's not hard to see why Wisconsin won that game with mid-level recruits. Preparing to defend all those different offensive formations and plays must have been a nightmare for Michigan.

Because you post like every team that has more talent will win every game....Wisconsin proved that wrong.

Harbaugh is a stargazer..... not a talent evaluator nor talent developer. He is also as interesting as a washboard.

2 ways this plays out.

Pitt scores TD, douz goes for 2 since kicker sucks. Doesn't get it, pitt loses in OT

Pitt scores TD, kicker misses PAT

Who have you been reading? I post like that? I would argue that a team with better players SHOULD win. That is a lot different from saying that they WILL win.

The Wisconsin game demonstrated that other factors, which you do not want to discuss, are huge -- at times big enough to overcome talent and produce a rout.

Let me know when you'd like to discuss Wisconsin's line play, formations, and play selections.

Play selections? That’s funny....hand off left, hand off right, hand off up the middle...genius. It was called out executing.

Really? That's all you saw coach? Better execution? Didn't notice those different formations and passes? They always played a 5-man line?

If they executed so well against better players, then why? These guys were mid-level recruits. Were they just lucky and got off on the right side of the bed?

Maybe these recruits just worked harder, so I guess there is always that possibility. But even then, they were selected by the Wisconsin coaches rather than others. Maybe they cut corners in class to get so good from a lower start.
