Ohio State news

I’d rather they go to Edinboro, Clarion, Bloomsburg, F&M, Penn, Drexel, Lock Haven, Bucknell or Lehigh before Pitt.

Among other reasons, Pitt is a sleeping giant athletic program in a sports crazy city in the heart of the best scholastic wrestling in the country. With all the advantages we claim Ohio State has by being in Columbus. I don’t want anyone to wake them up.
Hookers typically aren't providing NIL $. We're good.

Wake the damn giant up. I want more competition, not less. If getting Bo launched a Pitt resurgence in our fertile wrestling area, so be it. And if Bo goes Cowboy, Buckeye, or Hawk, bring it on. How great would it be to root for a Lion underdog against such a talent? Have you forgotten the blood rush of Cenzo’s first? Yes sir, I’d get far more enjoyment from our Beau beating Mendez/Alirez in March than our team crushing others by 100+ points. As with NFL playoffs, give me those not given a chance. Give me a 3C Lion with a formidable—some might say insurmountable—challenge to overcome, even if it’s a Bo Bassett in red or orange. Hell, I’d even shrink this year’s team title margin to 30 if it got me the tournament’s most improbable: Beau’s natty and Kerk over Gable. Tell me you wouldn’t, too.
Excuse the rant. Slow work day. ;)

I’m cool with just crushing everyone. To each their own.

Yeah, **** that competition crap. Try being a Philadelphia fan dealing with decades of losing.

Every time one of my teams was ready to dominate they did something stupid like trading Moses Malone for Jeff Ruland or one of their young superstars died in an accident

And when we're winning, our sports media focuses on stupid crap like whether or not our punter 20+ years ago shaved his nether region.

Solid move in mid January, not.
The timing is something they should have worked out months ago, but they both looked at a lot better at the new weights this weekend. Sasso was definitely too small for 165 and Paddy looked like a full-sized 165 this weekend like he may have been having issues with his cut at 157. They were both serious underachievers at the original weights.

I wouldn't use the term "underachiever" for either of these guys, particularly Sasso. Considering Sasso was a shooting victim (and seriously injured as a result), it's pretty remarkable that he's back on the mat at all. Whether he is the best guy at 157 for anOSU is a different question.

Based on results so far, it appears Gallagher was overrated as a prep wrestler and college recruit. And the fact that he is not a good scrambler doesn't help. But does being overrated make him an underachiever? Guess it depends how you look at it.

I say "underachievers" in so far as they looked a lot better at the new weights than in the original lineup (despite Sasso losing to Blaze, he looked a lot better and more comfortable at 157).

A note about the OSU/Purdue match: At the end of the Blaze/Sasso match... Blaze got his hand raised and started to converse with some fans behind the Ohio State Coaches bench. The ref went to get in Blazes way but Blaze convinced the ref he was going to shake hands with tOSU staff. He did this but then walked beyond their bench and confronted the fans by the OSU staff! One fan stood in the way and was talking back to Blaze. Honestly, Blaze seemed calm and appeared to be asking a question. Purdue staff had to run over and get him. Found it interesting. Anyone know what he was upset about or what he was asking?

Not sure. But some anOSU fans were vocal at the final portion of the Blaze/Sasso bout, complaining that Blaze was stalling and looking for a call from the ref. It has been speculated that Blaze confronted at least one of these vocal fans after the bout. Or maybe a fan first made an additional remark to Blaze while shaking hands with the anOSU staff?

Sasso is not the same sincere was shot he might not place this yr!

I’ve been beating this drum for a while. I have no idea how Kilkeary isn’t the starter. If they keep rolling out this bump instead of him, maybe Kilkeary & Bouzakis will be a package deal in the portal. LOL.
Would have to imagine once Davino RS is done he’s taking over the 33 spot and I guess Bouzakis gotta wait till Mendez graduates to start at 41 or try n cut to 25.

Doubtful.

If Tan Tom wants all three those guys in the lineup, the far more likely scenario is Davino at 133, Bouzakis at 141, and Mendez bumping up to 149. Ohio State will need a new guy at 149, as 2024-25 is De'Emilio's final season.

Yeah true this could make sense too if Mendez wants to go 149

tOSU was terrible transitioning from their shots to finishing against Iowa.

Not only could they not score but they ended up giving up takedowns multiple times.

I swear Tom Ryan does less with more than any other coach.

Don’t care how many here despise Pitt, but I’d be glad of it. Born in a gritty little steel town of Braddock (outside Pittsburgh), I’d love to see Pitt stay relevant in the sport. Still lamenting Nino’s loss to that kneeling SOB, I wouldn’t even mind seeing Bo at Pitt. In fact, if not PSU, I’d prefer it.

Sorry, catching up on old posts.

Braddock, you say, you couldn't have left behind some nice dress pants, size 56 waist, 60 inseam for a local to wear at say an inauguration? ?

This only works if that is what Mendez wants. He very well could be a two time defending champ. He will dictate where he wants to go in the lineup, so if he wants to stay at 141, then Bouzakis is getting squeezed out by Davino and Mendez. I think it's likely he'd portal out rather than sit, and going to Pitt with Vince would make sense since they are a close family.
