Ohio State's new 165

Not sure how the dude makes 165. I'm sure he'll improve in that room. Gave Joseph a good go this year.

Kaleb Romero will redshirt ?
Isiah White can't make the grades ?

Campbell steps right in ?

Campbell scored 3 points at Nationals. I can see him improving a bit in tOSU's room, but this has the look of desperation on Ryan's part.
If White comes I believe he has to sit a year. Campbell is an upgrade at 165 for a year with White coming into the line up the following year

Does it make any sense for tOSU to go for broke and start Romero next year? since Snyder, Bojo, and Tomasello will be in their Sr. Season

Not with national qualifier Campbell transferring in at 165, assuming he got a release that lets him wrestle next year.

Campbell collected three points at Nationals. If he triples that, they get 9.

6 more points won't do it for Ryan: He needs to ask Micah to move up to 157, and Hayes to 149.

Campbell transferring to Ohio State has been rumored on the ohiowrestling.net board for a few days now. This could mean that an Isaiah While transfer to Brutus in no longer in the cards. The White non-transfer has also been mentioned on that same message board, though I don't know how reliable that poster is.

If White is no longer an option, Campbell to tOSU is a good move for Tan Tom & company. He was the #10 seed at Nationals this year, and could challenge for AA in 2018. He certainly is a better option than Burcher, who can now drop down to 157 and compete with Ryan. That is, assuming Mikey Jordan stays at 149 and doesn't move up to 157.

Meanwhile, Romero can redshirt, which seems pretty much a no-brainer. Besides, I'm not sure we'll ever see Romero at 165 in college; 174 seems much more likely IMO.

Great....... now we will need 9 scorers next season!

So who caught the exchange between DT, L. Stieber and Pyles on twitter? The timeline of events is curious to say the least.

I saw on DT's twitter feed then saw a reply tweet by H. Stieber so I went to his page. Sorry I'm not as accomplished as some of you at the links and copying. Just curious to hear some of your thoughts people.

I'm not sure thats best. Keyshawn was small for 141. Micah has trouble getting up from bottom position. Moving both those two up a weight, only worsens both situations.
Pletcher did well, but was clearly undersized and short for 141. Think Micah can finish 3rd at 149. Not sure he can at 157. Just IMHO.

I dont see Campbell as much more than a 2+2 guy. But, he is lightyears better than the current options we have. After losing Marinelli to Iowa, losing out on Hall, and having Isaiah White not make the grades, we had no legitimate threat. Cambell will at least provide a very legit D-1 wrestler that has a basement of 3 points and a ceiling of having a Kenny Courts 2015 run and make the semi's in a broken bracket. Maybe he will prove me wrong and improve in the room. But 165 is loaded and the top 4 are pretty set. Marinelli should get another AA spot. Velencia (if he stays 165) gets a AA. So really most realistic ceiling is 7th/8th place points, at best.

Or, I could be wrong.

He has to go for it. Tomasello, Bo Jordan, Snyder all gonzo after next year. That's half this years points. A lot coming back, but that's 3 quality scorers departing.

Kind of hard to speculate. Not really fair to White. But he was eligible all year for Notre Dame College, so I'd say that he absolutely can.

If he did not meet NCAA D1 eligibility requirements initially, I think he needs something like 48 hours completed to transfer to D1 and be eligible to wrestle.

I believe you are correct on that. Maybe I misinterpreted the question.

This is what makes the most sense. Bumping those guys just weakens a whole bunch of weights for years. Suspect Pletcher shirts and then goes 133 post-Nato.

Campbell is IIRC a guy who got a later start in the sport, so maybe his curve still has some slope on it. But, yeah, 2-2 or 3-2 Round of 12 seems about right.

How has Cleary looked this year? Can he make 157?

Pletcher better hope his tree trunk legs dont affect his cut to 33. Stout lower body

It is a bit interesting he was released before nationals. What's the story on that?

It was probably Campbell who reached out to Ryan seeing how it would be against NCAA regulations to contact Campbell while he is still on there roster. I don't see Ryan making that dumb mistake
