Ohio State's new 165

It is a bit interesting he was released before nationals. What's the story on that?
Guessing he was upset with the school for dumping Peters. Have heard that was not a real popular move in the locker room.

It's a shame for the program that he didn't give them an opportunity to hire a replacement.

So does Pitt plan to hire a new head coach sometime before 2019 so they don't lose half of their team to transfer ?

Not saying that Campbell wouldn't place high enough at Bigs to qualify for NCAA spot but he's probably a lock to qualify wrestling in ACC - why would he transfer at this point in time? At his skill level - very good but not elite, why would he leave Pitt anyhow?

Big Ten is the easiest conference to qualify from. You can have a bad match or two and not have to worry about it. My guess is he thinks the tOSU room can make him go from very good to elite.

A healthy Campbell easily qualifies for NCAA's, regardless of conference, imo. Can't answer the last question, private matter and we may never know...which is ok by me.

I'll be interested to see how Campbell progresses in the Buckeye room. A good move for both parties involved (Campbell and tOSU)

I saw somewhere that Campbell would play football and wrestle at tOSU, which if true, means he would be on a full scholarship for football and not take any of wrestlings scholarships. Or be a walk on for both. Either scenario results in no Wrestling scholarship, again if true.

Play football and keep his weight down so he can make 165? Doesn't seem likely.

Not a chance in hell

Not sure how he is now a consensus All American. Again, he just competed at Nationals, and scored 3 points. 3 points. Not clear how massive improvement can be considered a "given" here.

This makes no sense unless he's the kicker. Which he wasn't in HS. And even their kicker weighs 190.

I'm not sure thats best. Keyshawn was small for 141. Micah has trouble getting up from bottom position. Moving both those two up a weight, only worsens both situations.
Pletcher did well, but was clearly undersized and short for 141. Think Micah can finish 3rd at 149. Not sure he can at 157. Just IMHO.

I dont see Campbell as much more than a 2+2 guy. But, he is lightyears better than the current options we have. After losing Marinelli to Iowa, losing out on Hall, and having Isaiah White not make the grades, we had no legitimate threat. Cambell will at least provide a very legit D-1 wrestler that has a basement of 3 points and a ceiling of having a Kenny Courts 2015 run and make the semi's in a broken bracket. Maybe he will prove me wrong and improve in the room. But 165 is loaded and the top 4 are pretty set. Marinelli should get another AA spot. Velencia (if he stays 165) gets a AA. So really most realistic ceiling is 7th/8th place points, at best.

Or, I could be wrong.
I think it's the ladder ;) the ruling on White still isn't out and I think there's a good shot we still get him. Of course pbs is probably the most in the know from the message boards on that. I've heard Tommy Rowland's and someone else say they think Micah needs to get stronger for 149

In terms of high school to freshman to redshirt freshman the progress was tremendous. This year not so much but than again a few of us have gotten news recently he was hurt all year
I also think Campbell has about 100x more raw ability than Ryan.

NY or anyone that visits the Greggy Martin board project a tO$U lineup next year?

Keep hearing NATO to 125 getting thrown around. Is that even realistic? The kid is ALL muscle and he would have to drop 8lbs. Where are the 8lbs coming from? That would be a tough cut for an entire season.

Good luck becoming a top flight wrestler (or a starter for that matter) if you're planning on spending half the season on the gridiron. Neither of the scenarios you laid out passes the sniff test w/re:Campbell.

125: Will be true freshman for most of year, Dylan or Brady Koontz (twins) or Braken Meade (if he commits). Doubt Jose Rodriquez wrestles this weight much next year. No points again :(

133: Nato. I dont see him going back down. Short of two Merkles, he would have been in the finals at this weight last weekend. Pletcher redshirts then takes over for NaTo in 2018/9 season. Ceiling is 1st place. Floor is 3rd.

141: Key-Shawn Hayes. Hopefully ads some muscle. Not sure ceiling. Maybe mid-level AA.

149: Micah Jordan. Also, hopefully ads some muscle or ceiling is finishing third. If he can add muscle and improve bottom, then ceiling is 2nd.

157: Jake Ryan maybe if healthy. Cody Burcher. Maybe Elijah Cleary cuts. Dont see anything more than a NQ at this weight.

165: TeShan Campbell. Maybe Cleary, but I fully assume Campbell will beat out Cleary. Possibly start Kaleb Romero as a true freshman. Romero could be a superstar, once he commits to one sport, but best case scenario would be 7th / 8th place as he would not beat of Joseph / iMar / Massa / Lewis / Marinelli / A Velencia.

174: Bo Jordan: if he can stay healthy for a year. His bone tumor wont get better, but hopefully he has at least one good ankle next year. Romero redshirts at this weight, IMHO and takes over in 2018/9. Ceiling is 1st, realistic is 3rd. But, if the Velencias move up, then I think BoJo can still finish 2nd to Hall.

184: Myles Martin. Ceiling is 2nd unless Zahid V moves, up, then ceiling is 3rd. Ethan Smith probably redshirts at this weight.

197: Kollin Moore. Will project as champion. I think Ben Darmstadt will be in the top 3 though.

285: Kyle Snyder. Champion if healthy.

First honest assessment I've seen. Well done.

Nate is not going 125 to my knowledge, and as far as I know There is a possibility Jose is back at 125. My best guess is
125 JRod
133 NaTo
141 KeShawn Hayes
149 Micah Jordan
157 Jake Ryan/Cody Burcher
165 Teshan Campbell
174 Bo Jordan
184 Myles Martin
197 Kollin Moore
285 Kyle Snyder

NY94 & dar: So no chance Micah will ever go 157? Or Hayes to 149? Hate to see Pletcher make the cut back to 133.

I've heard some guys say they don't think Micah is strong enough for 149 and needs to get stronger this off season. Also if he struggled getting out from underneath the elite guys at 149 I doubt that gets easier at 157. It's best for the team and both individuals that they stay where they are. As far as Pletcher, his uncle posted on our 247 board a couple of times and basically said if I remember correctly that Luke is a 133 and that's where he should be, just took one for the team this year

I have no interest in building up the Ohio State lineup. Their coach just took the shine off our wrestlers' national championship with his grandstanding. He also yelled "Bullshit call" to the PSU crowd after said loss.

As I've said before, I have nothing against Smith, or Brands, but I dislike Ryan and his program. Screw Ohio State.

It's much easier to get out from bottom at 157 -- Jason cuts guys free 8x per match, where Zain does it once or twice and then pounds them into dust.

All kidding aside, I agree. Hayes and Jordan should stay where they are.

No way Urban Meyer gives one of his scholarships to Ryan unless the kid is actually worthy of one for OSU football. Jeebus, 4 star football players from OH often don't get scholarships because Urban gets a 5 star national recruit.

Campbell couldn't/didn't play football for Pitt and now he will for tOSU? Doesn't pass the sniff test:confused:
