Continuing the trend.

Oklahoma State seems to be the top contender with Penn State this year, and probably will be next year as well. Lots of good, young guys and talent will keep coming in.

2017-18:
125-Piccininni SO
133-Brock SO
141-Heil SR
149-Martinez JR
157-JoJo Smith JR
165- Rogers JR
174- Jacobe Smith JR
184-Moore rFR/Marsden SO
197- Weigel JR
HWT-Andrews JR/Anderson FR

Solid line-up. Incoming freshman redshirt, the only one who could make a difference out of the gate is Fix and I’m not sure if he would provide enough extra points. Although, if coach smells blood in the water I think he would pull it. Collica, Crutchmer, Boyd and Schafer leave some gaps open but they have some solid replacements including AA Martinez and a couple of JUCO Champs. Moore was a highly rated recruit as well. Didn’t know where to slot Marsden as he’s listed as an 84/97 but I have trouble seeing him down that low.

2018-19:
125- Piccininni JR/Fix FR
133- Brock JR/Piccininni JR/Fix FR/Taylor FR/Gfeller FR
141- Brock JR/Piccininni JR/Fix FR/Taylor FR/Gfeller FR
149- Martinez SR
157- JoJo Smith SR
165- Rogers SR
174- Jacobe Smith SR
184- Moore SO/Marsden JR
197- Weigel SR
HWT- Andrews SR/Anderson FR
The weights down low will be interesting to watch. One of Fix, Piccininni, Brock or Gfeller is sitting, leaving some talent on the bench. Also some guys will probably have to move around. Fix and Brock are too good to sit here. Big decision on what to do at 33/41 to maximize your points on this senior laden team. Middleweights seem cut and dry although I would not be surprised to see JoJo move up at some point. I think the upperweights get set in stone based on who wins spots in 2017 with some added continuity.

2018 is going to have a ton of experience on it. That being said, they might not have enough. They will have a bunch of AAs for sure, and Fix will likely provide a big boost early on. How they can fill the line-up next year will definitely provide a more clear picture of their prospects in two years. I could definitely see this being a team that could bring it home.

I know Smith likes to have people cut a boatload of weight, but from the eyeball test, I think it will be hard for Fix to get to 125 in two years. Pic at 125, Fix at 133 and Brock at 141 in 2018-19?

I didn't want to start a new thread for this considering it really doesn't matter at all. However, while we're on the topic of Okie State; why have they remained the top ranked team in the nation for the entire regular season? We seem to be a sizeable favorite going into Sunday despite the match being in Stillwater. Overall, our body of work throughout the season just seems more impressive.

I think you might see Lewallen in the mix next year for OSU. I think Heil and Lewallen man 141 and 149. He has had some impressive wins this year including winning Reno and beating Bryce Meredith, and reportedly beating Heil in a 'wrestle off' type scenario in practice according to a post I saw on OSU board a while ago. Whether the wrestle off thing is accurate or not, his small body of work is very impressive. He won the reno on very small amount of practice at all, coming off of injury I believe.

Martinez on the other hand has looked very lack luster in his RS season, losing to non AA caliber guys, lost twice to a JUCO guy at Reno, and one of his team mates at an earlier open.

I don't know one way or the other just speculating. They will have a tough team next year regardless.

Ranking Sevices don't like to admit they were wrong until they absolutely have to.

Marsden has been down at 84 all season. He looks a lot better, he was quite pudgy at 197. Also, as LAX mentioned, Lewallen will probably be at 149 next year, with Martinez as a backup. Don't think Jet Taylor will be anywhere over 125 during his career, unless Guns starts feeding him to make him go up.

I am not even trying to guess how the Picc/Brock/Fix/Gfeller mess works itself out in 2018 and beyond. A bunch of talent, especially adding in Lewallen and Martinez. Nice problem to have, though.

Heavyweight will work itself out when G. Stevenson signs

you make a good point... questioning why it hasn't changed... just because they haven't lost? I think it will be fun to see Flo's whiteboards since they have 7 out of the 10 PSU guys ranked higher. Maybe better 'sensationalism'.

JoJo has been cutting lots of weight, I'm guessing he moves up next year and Rodgers goes back to 174.

Top dog until you're knocked off. I'm ok with that...as my mother used to say, "it'll come out in the wash"...I prefer "it'll be settled on the mat".

That's what I was thinking. Jacobe Smith challenge Marsden and Moore at 184. Martinez or Sheets at 157.

I think Smith cut has more to due with fighting the injury, he planned on starting at 149, so I think he will stay at 57. I don't think picc will ever be at 41, he's not big enough and if he got there he would lose to lewallen. I would rather see Heil go 49 and Lewallen go 41, but that is down the road. My guess for next year would be:
Piccinnini
Brock
Heil/lewallen
Heil/lewallen/blaylock
Smith
Rogers
Smith
Marsden
Weigel
?

Smith was planning to start 149 this year? What was Collica doing?
