They'll be gone sooner than later
And, yes, obviously 5 is the best seed. It's even better without a CCG

Just as good to play in a championship game for a conference like the ACC where the champ game could be against a 2nd 20 team like pitt with the reward being a bye in the first round.

That would be much better than for say in the SEC where GA might have to play Bama or another physical team and then the winner is beat up but gets a bye to rest up but then might have to face that team again or another top 8 team.

Bottom line is that if you make a conference Championship game you really need to win because if you don't and miss out on the bye for a top 4 seed you'll have to play an extra game in the championship bracket to get to the finals.

Which again brings into questioning. Not this year, but someday, suppose an undefeated SEC team goes up against a one-loss SEC team in the SECCG. Would the SEC want to help the one-loss SEC team not have a second loss and therefore have the refs put their thumb on the scale to ensure both teams make the playoff?

Both of those teams will always be in. The SEC and Big Ten will never EVER be a 1 bid league. They'll never be only a 2 bid league either.
A better example would be--if Miami goes 12-0 this year would they want them to lose that game so the ACC then gets two in
