Oregon to the Big Ten?

I know that you spent some serious time and effort on this post. But in any future ones I’d omit any references and discussions about the ACC. Frankly, no here gives a flying fu$k wether the ACC survives or not.
Respectfully, I think you missed the point. It was in reference to whether Oregon would be extended an invite to the Big Ten. All I was saying was that there are financial reasons why the ESPN might be aggressive in “pulling the strings” if it meant losing two reputable brands to FOX, which is what this thread is discussing.

Is Veilleux your starter? He's a good player.
I don’t think he will to start out (Jurkovec), but I wouldn’t be shocked if he is by the end of the season. We’re very fortunate that he was blocked by Allar because I think he can be a good QB for us.

This 100%. I believe any CF fan with half a brain pretty much realizes that the ACC and PAC 12 (or whatever it is now) is eventually toast. The scramble for teams in those two leagues to get into the B1G or SEC will be comical to watch in the next 2 to 3 years.
Yes but we have to figure out how they die. Many people here care about college football as a whole. It's far better than some of the OT stuff here.

I forgot about Jurkovec. He's decent right?
He was for a little bit at Boston College. He was a little banged up last season so perhaps that’s why he declined, but our offensive coordinator worked with him at BC. Ideally, Jurkovec does well this season and Villeaux takes over in 2024.

It’s complicated. Yes, the Pac 12 is toast, but the ACC generates more $ per school than the next Big 12 deal minus TX and OK. Obviously Clemson and FSU generate those ACC dollars along with the ND affiliation. The ACC GOR is ironclad. That conference will continue for many years.

Nobody really knows right now. It's constantly changing. Big 12 just invited Colorado back after being the worst team in the Pac for their entire run essentially because...reasons?

Unclear. Certainly wasn't for a winning program. Highly doubt their ratings are good, being that they have stunk and been in the West Coast death slot for a decade.

So why? I'd love to hear reasons. I don't grasp it.
For this specifically I think it is more about destabilizing the PAC-12 more than it is enhancing the Big 12. Colorado doesn’t really made the Big 12 “better” athletically and while it expands the markets, I’m not sure Denver/Colorado is a big expansion relative to “another mouth to feed”. But the TV partners had agreed to keep per team payouts the same with the addition of any Power 5 team so no one in the Big 12 is hurt by this.

By making the PAC weaker, the Big 12 is enhancing their position as the “next best” conference after the SEC and Big Ten. Once the ACC gets pillaged (when the GOR expires or is near expiration), the Big 12 will be solidly better than whatever is left of the ACC or PAC (and the Big 12 might even pick off some more teams from both of them). Interestingly, the Big 12 is also going to be quite stable as they basically don’t have a single team that either the SEC or Big Ten would want so the fear of losing members is minimal. I actually really commend the Big 12 as they took a crap situation after losing UT and OU and really were aggressive and positioned themselves well. Getting a new TV deal signed early before the PAC looks absolutely brilliant in hindsight.

Some fun questions. What happens to the Rose Bowl? With the future PAC12, if it survives in a diminished capacity, still be part of same? Or if the BIG remains affiliated does Michigan lose to PAC12 representative Northridge State in the 2030 game? Or does a revamped ACC send their three times consecutive champion, Elon University to battle with Northridge?

The Big 10/Pac 10 Rose Bowl is already gone. It will be a playoff game every year, I believe.

Ideally it becomes the title game annually but there's too much money letting cities bid on it so it becomes obsolete.

I imagine that I should have used the sarcasm font. Thanks, but the stupid illogical questions that I posted don’t necessarily require reasonable and factual answers.
Sorry. It was obvious most of your post was sarcasm (although watching Michigan lose to Northridge State would be fun), but I assumed the part about what happens to the Rose Bowl if the PAC 12 disintegrates was real.

Don’t worry about it. After reviewing my post the first question did appear rational. I probably should have phrased it. Will the Rose Bowl be renamed the “We used to be great bowl but now will accept any team that shows up with a marching band bowl”.

Isn’t that what it was first called in 1902? It would be fitting to go out how it started. I imagine now the Rose Bowl is glad they agreed to start the expanded playoffs next year instead of 2026, otherwise your questions might not have been sarcasm.

Schmuckbechler could bring scUM to play Northridge Womens College and lose in the Rose Bowl. He was quite adept at losing Rose Bowls.

That will he a good QB battle. Veilleux has a shot to beat him out or replace him if and when Jurkovec struggles as you suggest.

I like Pitt, I like when Pitt does well, and I like when Penn State plays Pitt. Do I want Pitt in the BIG, no, but I do want them to win when not playing Penn State.

Personally, I’d be fine with Villeaux beating him out or at least getting some starts this season. Would be nice to have him in the system for three years, which was something that helped Pickett flourish over time.

I am expecting four mostly regional pods by 2028 with the ACC and Pac-10 being carved up and it would not shock me if they went as big as 36 with the Big XII becoming prey as well.

Pacific Coast Pod

Washington
Oregon
Berkeley
Stanford
USC
UCLA
Arizona State

Great Plains Pod

Utah
Nebraska
Iowa
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Michigan State
Illinois

Great Lakes Pod

Ohio State
Michigan
Rutgers
Indiana
Purdue
Northwestern
Missouri (They already want to jump to the Big Ten)

East Coast Pod

Notre Dame
Penn State
Maryland
Georgia Tech
Virginia Tech
Virginia
UNC
There is absolutely no rumors of Mizzou wanting out of the SEC that I’ve heard from the Missouri media.

Some assume Missouri wants to leave because they wanted to get away from Texas when they went to the SEC but I agree with you--there's no indication that's true.

They wanted away from a Texas dominated conference just like Nebraska. That ain’t happening in the SEC and hell, the Big caters to two programs so they would certainly want no part of that.

It’s a shame that the original Big 12 got broken up by the “powers that be.” We moved to Kansas City right after Missouri left… as fun as the Big 12 Tournament is each year, I can’t imagine how fun it must’ve been with Mizzou and Nebraska.

I thought it was about Texas controlling everything not winning?
But whether it was about competition or Texas having too much power you're right it's not a factor in the SEC
You do realize everyone else in the Big Ten thinks they cater to us as well as those 2, right?

He did not transfer to Pitt to sit his first year. I hope he wins the starting gig because I want to see how he does. Cheering for him to do well.

Agreed he went to compete but one year behind Jurkovec is better than 2+ behind Allar

I never said nor meant Texas winning. They wanted control of the academic standards, their own network with no sharing and domination of the league’s inner workings.

You and me both. And hey, if yinz have any more guys that aren’t getting playing time, keep sending them our way. Between Villeaux and Petrishen, we’re developing quite the pipeline. ;)

I apologize. I misunderstood your point. Agreed completely

their own network with no sharing

And they got it, too. It flopped, big. Lol kinda funny in hindsight. Who really thought a school exclusive network would be successful? Particularly before the streaming age got over huge.

Thing is that UT got paid. It’s ESPN who lost their shirt with that network. Arguably that’s part of the reason why ESPN helped orchestrate Texas to the SEC so they could tear up that deal.
