OSU/Michigan currently have the 2025 #1 and #2 overall recruits in the country. Both are QBs. Our QB is currently ranked #610 overall in the country.

I’m curious to see if Franklin goes after any portal QBs or if he trusts in Beau and Grunk.
That’s tough to say. We do not know for certain that Allar leaves for the NFL. Beau definitely has the trust of the staff and has shown promise this season. If Allar leaves, Beau is definitely qb1 next season. His running style poses an elevated injury risk, so we need good backups . We have heard great reports about Grunk andbI hope that is true, but we also heard we had several Jerry Rice level wrs and that has not come to fruition! It may not hurt to have portal qb if Smolik is unable to come back from injury.

Amen. No more crying about recruiting from anyone who hasn’t ponied up. I haven’t, so I won’t.

This is me too. I refuse to pony up for NIL as I think it is horrible and completely counter to college athletics and the entire reason I watch college sports. If it means PSU falls behind on recruiting and competitiveness, so be it.

My boss is a Michigan grad and season ticket holder....I did text him this morning in jest and said "you better not have given my year end bonus to this new QB"

It is also of note that Underwood and St Clair are from Michigan and Ohio respectively. Their choices are not shocking. NIL is certainly issue but Malachi Nelson was 2023 #1 rated 5 star elite QB who left USC and now back-up at Boise State.

Allar is getting married and having a child so I doubt he will be coming back next year.

Agree -- Based on geography - these two likely would have ended up at the same schools 30 years ago. They're both within spitting distance of campus for their respective schools. The best QB in PA is ranked #18, was bought by Missouri and blew out his knee. It's not like Franklin whiffed on a 5* QB from Cedar Cliff or something. PA used to churn out QB's - are they all playing lacrosse and field hockey now? Pennsylvania still has 13M people. Who was the last can't miss QB out of PA? McCord?

I'm about 99% sure the pregnancy rumors are false but, yes, he's not coming back--that's why Beau stayed. Grunk will have an opportunity to win the job though. It's unlikely both are on the rosters next year--it's unlikely either are if Drew makes a dumb decision and returns.

I think I would rather see our staff fill holes through the portal with $10 million than buy a HS QB. Since NIL began, what HS QB has worked out well when we've heard about the price tag? Nico at Tennessee are 8-2 with his rumored $8 million, but they run the ball and play defense. Definitely not the same passing attack they had with Hooker.

Michigan is desperate. Again. If they don't portal in the '25 QB, Underwood probably doesn't stay around to be the man for '26 either.

I've seen both kids as a top 3 overall recruiting rankings in all of the services. They're flipped on Rivals with St. Clair (OSU) being the overall #1 recruit and Underwood (UM) being #2.

I have a cousin who is now 70 and claims that St. Clair is the best Ohio HS QB prospect in the last 50 years going back to dipshit Art Slichter (sp?). Many who have seen him play say the same thing. He's been a huge, huge OSU fan his whole, short life which helped OSU with his recruiting. And personally, I think Day sucks as a HC, but he does know QBs as I believe he was a QB coach in the NFL.

I'm sure many - in Michigan - would say the same thing about Underwood. The problem is that they'll need an upgrade at HC as I just don't think Sherrone Moore is going to last. Will his departure affect Underwood ? My point - Michigan Football is in a very unstable situation right now and wo knows what the future hold ?

Yes. Team ranking are quickly moving in direct proportion to the price of their roster. As such , unless “we” chose to play that game, we are going to be around 10-15 in the polls at the end of any given year. This years recruiting class ranking for PSU reflects that reality. We have a few “grace period” players on our roster currently that were not nil brats. But that’s quickly going to end.

Just a rumor right now, but I spend a ton of time on the MGoBlog (Michigan) site and it's being reported that UM is shelling out up to $10 million to flip Underwood from LSU to UM. Is it just made up BS? Who knows but if anywhere near the truth, CF is basically a mess right now. He!l, if this crap keeps up, kids could make more in CF than in the NFL. Just ridiculous !!!

I know it’s just one position in one year but woof. Gotta get another QB this class. Our only QB commit didn’t even win the starting QB job at his HS this year so had to transfer.

I thought the QB who just flipped to Colorado was number 2. Am I missing something?

On what site? I use the Rivals and 247 Composite sites as my recruiting sources - and both have St Clair and Underwood as the top 2 overall recruits in the country. Same with ON3. In fact, the #3 overall recruit is also a QB headed to Alabama. Definitely the year of the HS QB

LaSalle QB Sidwar is verry good. why not look at this player.

I found him in the 2026 class. Looks like a solid prospect and PSU just might offer but waiting to see how he develops through the next couple of years. Looks like he already has a few solid offers

$12.5 Million is the amount being reported

There will be one or two coming out of Ohio state. Currently, Ohio state has three five-star quarterbacks. Also, Devin Brown was a highly rated four Star and I don't see how he's going to get to play.

There is a freshman at OSU at QB named Air Noland, a 4*. Rumor is he is going to transfer as there is no good path to playing time at OSU. Yes, the whole NIL thing is a mess. Blame the courts and our capitalist system. Everything eventually moves to the most money. Some schools, like OSU, UM and Oregon will play the NIL game. Others won't to the same degree. I can't blame them. Major college football isn't trending towards pro, it is pro. Maybe a draft is needed for kids coming out of high school.

Yep, read the same about Noland on a couple others sites. OSU is super high on that Sayin kid who transferred from Alabama and, I believe, is a true freshman. He's projected to be the 2025 starter. Noland might be a good one to look at for a transfer

It's getting to the point that it doesn't matter where QB's committ out of HS. Many teams seem interested in importing proven QB's instead of growing their own, which can be a difficult process for some fanbases to bear.

It does cause many highly rated but unproven 4* & 5* guys to move around. Michigan should've waited a year or two and probably could've picked up the Underwood kid on the cheap as most 4* & 5* QB's don't impress and don't get drafted in the first round.

My big question with the massive NIL payouts is how they are structured - i.e. does it get paid when the players enrolls at the school and in that first year or are the contracts such htat they are paid something like 1/4 each year for 4 years? Like does this guy get $10-12M upfront but then if he hates UM, he can transfer after a year to another school that will also pay him millions?

OSU has one 5 star and very high 4 star guy sitting on bench this year as well. PSU will be fine with Beau and Grunk once Allar leaves maybe this year or next.
