OSU Rumors

It's not a good analogy, either. It's more like coaching football at TCU vs coaching football at Nebraska. One is good now, the other has the history and I suppose the ability to potentially return to former glory but have been buried for a long time and are currently a long way from the top.
Nebraska football history is intensely overrated anyway, including 2 entirely fake national titles (1994 and 1997) whereas Penn State doesn't even claim several more legitimate years (1912, 1919, 1968-69, 1973, 1994).

Before Bob Devaney, Nebraska was way, way worse than the neighboring Iowa Hawkeyes, for example, and not much better than Missouri or Kansas. Under Osborne, they had a very good stretch in 1980-83 and a truly solid stretch 1993-97, albeit with 2 fake national titles, but they also coasted along largely because the Big 8 (other than either OU or Colorado) wasn't that good.

Nebraska isn't coming back, unless Matt Rhule is even better than I think he is.

Is OSU the Notre Dame of wrestling?

They have great history. Unfortunately a lot of it is before WW2. More than half of OSUs championships came when they were still known as Oklahoma A&M.
all the history being before WW2 makes them Pitt or Minnesota football lol

I've spent my entire life in Pennsylvania and the last 30+ in extreme northern PA, about 2 hours from Ithaca. Didn't mind it as a young man, but I hate it now and have since moved seasonally to upstate South Carolina because the winters are so miserable "up home". Summers are delightful. Autumn is nice, November can be beautiful, even December is sometimes nice, but January, February and even March suck. April can be nice or can be cold and wet. I feel like I've got the best of both worlds now, but those who are saying there are better places to be (weather wise) than Ithaca, NY are correct from my perspective.
Can't hunt with Hal Blood in SC lol

Wow that's a depressing board. I wonder how many posters there have called the suicide hotline.

"Hi, I'm Oklahoma State wrestling fan. and I.."

Counselor talks calmly and presses the button to escalate the case based on imminent threat.

John Smith is and forever will be a wrestling and coaching legend.

Too delicate a subject it seems, but with all 'negative' things considered; AJ running wild and given too many chances, John's age - yes I said it, numerous top recruits underachieving, and the programs trajectory over the past half decade,.... Is it time for him to gracefully ride off into the sunset with proper fanfare and celebration?
