The red-hot Guardians, still sitting atop the Central Division, have just lost a series to lowly Detroit, along with several other recent series, in a stretch of sub-.500 baseball, which seems to flag their "weak link" - starting pitching.
Nearing the half way point, the Guards are desperate for more starting pitching, plus a couple of upgrades on the offensive side of the ledger, if they are to halt the current slide, that could take them just out of contention.
OTOH, there are a couple of minor league pitchers close to being ready to come up to the parent team....saviours? And while theres been lots of talk about possible pitchers to be brought in via the trade route, no clear answers stand out.
Its certainly possible that this is just a fluke, where the starters under-perform, and the clutch hits stop happening. But it looks a lot more serious than that.
