OT: for the "Kaepernick isn't good enough" crowd

You should probably look up stats Colin Kapernick best year as a QB 3200 yards passing 21 passing touchdowns and 8 interceptions not to mention he was on a absolutely loaded team

Jay Cutler barely above year you said 3600 yards passing 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions

It's been well established Kap has a hard time reading defenses in general

Not saying Cutler is great but definately a better option for Gase and the city of Miami

And since people were touting records earlier in this convo ... what was Kap's best record as a starting QB and what was Cutler's?

The argument that because he's a rich athlete so he should basically shut up is stupid. You know what he is when he takes off his uniform? A black man in America. That doesn't change. And sometimes I wonder how some of you don't get that as of yet. You want to sit there and bitch about why doesn't he just entertain me when I want him to. Sports should be about entertainment and getting away from reality. Except ... these are real people with real lives going through real experiences as well? They have more of a platform so you know what I commend him and anyone else that feels the need to bring racial and social injustices to the forefront. Especially to people bitching because it makes them uncomfortable. Glad you're uncomfortable. Now you know how everyone else has felt the last few hundred years.

Doesn't make me uncomfortable at all. I think it's patently absurd for an uber rich athlete to complain about the injustices of the very system that allowed him to become uber rich. So I hope he stays in the forefront because it just reminds people how silly his position is.

This is so ... you just don't get it and you clearly never will. But then again since you can eat food you should never complain about others who are going hungry. Since you have a residence you should never complain about the homeless. Because people should never complain about things that aren't happening to them at the time.

Hope you have a good day though =)

Nope I'm sure you THINK I'll never get it. And honestly, coming from you, I wear that as a badge of honor. Anyone who thinks that Kapernick and his "struggles" are valid representations of the injustices that occurred when human beings were actually bought and sold is never going to be someone whose opinion I value. Good day to you sir.

You know what he is when he takes off his uniform. A millionaire. Don't act like his life is comparable to a poor black persons living in northwest chicago.

Real experiences rofl

Kaepernick was raised by an upper middle class white family that treated him wonderfully, don't act like he is some guy who had to claw his way out of the projects dodging gangbangers one minute and racist cops the next. His whole life has been incredibly privileged compared to that of the black urban poor - or the white rural poor for that matter.

I don't give a shit how people felt in the past. I didn't make them feel that way, I deserve no punishment for what other people did. Dumbasses like you who think white people today deserve to bear some kind of punishment for the sins of white people in the past are why race relations in this country are going right down the toilet. And the people who will be hurt worst by you contemptible assholes overflowing with your hubris lambasting whites for things they didn't do until they get pissed off and sick of it are black people. The people you claim you're trying to help. Picking fights with whites isn't ever going to help blacks anymore, idiot. It did when the vast majority of whites hated and feared blacks and would literally fight over those feelings. No matter how many lies idiots tell, that isn't the way the vast majority of whites feel and act today. So going after them like they do is completely counterproductive and stupid.

I am not sure if I "get" the joke on "Nessa"s twitter page? Two pics of Ray Lewis choking someone? What is the joke here? It would appear that at least Nessa isn't a prostitute/call girl/porn star, so there is that...

Living here in south florida and took in just so happens Cutlers first practice. I will chime in with several reasons why I believe Cutler is here over Kap(some stated already)...1. Cutler and Gase have worked together and are very comfortable with each other. Cutler had a pretty good season with Gase as his OC. Gase knows Cutlers strengths and weaknesses. 2. Cutler knows the Gase playbook. First day at practice Cutler looked like a qb who had been in the system for years. Even Cutler said he remembered most of it and Gase had changed a few minor things. Cutler hit wr's in stride and break all day at practice. With time short Cutler would be up to speed much quicker than Kap and could focus on building consistency with wr's on the field more quickly rather than trying to remember where to go with the ball. 3. Living here in south florida I know many cubans who are not fans of Kap and are ticket holders of the dolphins. Dolphins owner knew it would be a public relations nightmare. Regardless of the exact wording of what Kap said the cuban community here does not like Kap at all and considers him a castro supporter. (regardless of what kap said or didn't say about cuba)
We could debate Kaps protesting as a 4th point but in reality the 3 above points was a much bigger factor in bringing Cutler in over Kap in my view living here in south florida. Especially points 1 and 2. Anyway just my .02 from a guy living here in south florida and seeing things first hand and talking to people.

No I KNOW you'll never get it from the words you've typed but yea ... go on thinking you got it. Yea you're right what would Kap EVER know about being black in America since he has money and all. Then again you must think in 2017 the world is an equal place and why complain.

Yea I know it's not like there's been documented videos of people who are actually well off being stopped or harassed or anything. But yea because he has money it'll never happen to him. Of course. It amazes me how some of you have your head so far in the sand especially about a problem you'll never have to deal with. Btw thanks for showing your true colors in that last paragraph.

A tweet appeared in my timeline that read something to the effect of the fact that Tom Brady and Dak Prescott have jobs in the NFL and Colin Kaepernick doesn't proves that the NFL is racist.

Just putting that out there.

I don't think he should shut up. Everyone has a right to speak up and he did. Your employers then can determine your value and how you delivered that message. Like I said earlier if Cam did this it wouldn't matter to people in Carolina as long as he wins games. Kapernick doesn't bring that to the table...right or wrong, he simply doesn't and isn't an elite QB. He's played himself into a backup role and most teams aren't falling on the sword for a backup QB. Now that may make people mad because he could be on a roster in that role, but it is the reality of the situation. It's not that he is a bad QB or isn't worthy of the NFL, but do staffs and owners want the additional headaches for a backup QB? I think those totally upset by this should simply quit watching the NFL...if the ratings dip and it's directly due to that...he'll have a job in a second. His right to expression was never taken away from him thanks to that same flag....funny how that works. I hope he continues to help make things better....and I think he will.

You realize that the salary cap for your ENTIRE TEAM in the CFL is $5.15 mil
If he's as good as he thinks money isn't a point in his life right now. Didn't hurt Warren Moon or Doug Flutie, but they were good QB's in both leagues.

He is an employee. He embarrassed his company and caused a loss of customers. The fans exercised their rights. His actions were viewed as hate speech against veterans who died for his right to he a poor rich asshole.

Give me a break. What evidence do you have that even a single person didn't go to a 49ers game or turned off a 49ers game or any other NFL game because he didn't stand for the national anthem? His actions were probably viewed by many others as a "good for him" action to use his position to publicize the worse treatment of blacks by the police which has been proven by studies and statistics. Point me to one person who joined the armed forces to protect the rights of all Americans and I'll point to 10 more who joined for the money, or the opportunity to learn a skill, or see the world, or blow sh*t up. So take your 'merica attitude someplace else, especially when you don't give a crap that veteran's benefits are being slashed right now.

Eh...if he wanted to make a statement, good for him. Now he has to suffer the consequences. I'm sure by now he realizes no one gives a shit about your "stances".
He made his bed.......too bad too. He'd probably be a 2nd or 3rd stringer somewhere and that's still a good chunk of change.

1 point that never seems to get brought up .... and i feel there are probably a good number of people who are unaware.

Kap wasn't cut, he opted out of his deal. maybe he would have been cut, but maybe he wouldnt have. Hindsight being 20/20, that wasnt a smart move

NFL viewership is down, you can google it and there and there are surveys that indicate the players protesting the anthem is a part of it.

WOW. stunning analysis.

LINK

forgot about that Dolphins game, amazing.

No matter how you slice and dice it the guy sucks. He may very well be better than some QBs but in no way will he take a team, at this point, to the promise land. He's not so good that teams line up to forgive anything they perceive negatively about him. He proved to be a distraction, no matter what you or any other non NFL guy thinks. NFL front office have a brand to protect. Obviously his stunt was a no no. Apparently being involved in a murder like Lewis was or a rape like Big Ben was is ok because they are great. If this guy was Big Ben he would be starting somewhere. So bottom line is he's not good enough to do what he did, right or wrong.

He is not that good. He is definitely not good enough to take the heat and piss off half your fans.

Riley Cooper.

Show me the NFL rule that states players have to stand for the anthem. Then you have a discussion point. Until then, he merely did something that upsets certain people. Yes, that has consequences. So be it.
My company has no written rule I can show you about being on Facebook but I guarantee you there are certain statements I could make that would get me fired! The key is watching out that I don't upset the wrong people.

So in a sport where fans routinely overlook spouse abuse, rape allegations, and drug abuse to cheer on their team, an anthem kneel makes them bitter?

Perhaps the sensitivities of those who cheer for what is now shown to be almost certain brain damage need not be catered to by thinking adults.

Like the one in Charlottesville this past weekend?

Which I notice has not gotten much response one way or another from the BWI Third Reich.
You mean the one where the democrat mayor gave instructions for the police not to make any arrests or step in to stop obviously expected if not planned escalating violence? Police on the scene were reported to have been ordered to “not intervene until given command to do so,” according to the ACLU.

So white supremacists who had permits to demonstrate were prepared for a fight with helmets and weapons alongside leftist ANTIFA and BLM counter protestors who did not have a permit and showed up with helmets and weapons and the democrat mayor and democrat governor who were both fully aware of this tell the police to just let it go down? These are all hate groups. White Supremacists, ANTIFA, BLM, and any politician who acts at a minimum negligently and quite possibly intentionally to ensure political violence on their streets. They all need to be charged with hate crimes to include the politicians that intentionally withheld police from intervening. For what? So that the mayor can publically blame this on Trump? So the MSM has a good story to sell the non-thinkers? These are hate crimes by all parties involved.

The anthem that is not shown on TV?

Yet shown on ESPN and Networks every week. Actually on Fox News and CNN as well. The only anthems I saw all year were 49ers games. You're better than that post.

Hello the NFL and publications did surveys as to why NFL viewership was down last year and the anthem protests were the #1 reason (league wide). The results were posted earlier in this thread.
