From what I have read, when you have your first meal of the day during IF, make sure to start with proteins before fats.
30-45 minutes of cardio -walking on a treadmill at various inclines. Good walking speed. Also lifting -light weights multiple reps. Total of about 1:30-1:45 in gym. Intensity varies. If the goal is weight loss in the form of fat loss, you have to be starving yourself of gluconanogens or something like that at some point. If you do HIT you might be able to eat at McDonald's beforehand and be starving of those glusoamogrens by lunchtime, if you're not pushing yourself so much physically you have to scale back on anything that ends up us unburnt gluamocrins.
Holy Hotcakes, Batman.218.5. Took the last damn day of golf to do it.

So, just a modification to this...30-45 minutes of cardio -walking on a treadmill at various inclines. Good walking speed. Also lifting -light weights multiple reps. Total of about 1:30-1:45 in gym. Intensity varies.
So, just a modification to this...
been splitting the workouts - started hitting the gym in the morning a couple times a week for cardio, then after work for weights and some stretching. I have been doing the pyramid lifting program (I think it's what it's called) - starting with low weights/12 reps, followed by next weight/10 reps, next weight/8 reps and final weight (peak) 6 reps, and then back down, finishing with the weight and reps I started with. Feel it's helped me get stronger.
Looking to get more information on stretching - gym offers one free class with a trainer, so I am taking a class on proper stretching techniques - especially with the core - which I hope translates also into better rotation during golf.
Still waiting until end of July to get my weight - that will be two full years since i started a lifestyle change, and want to see where I am.
That method looks unbalanced and would affect my OCD. No can do.Tip: The 100 Rep Pyramid

Would have trouble counting that high. Sounds like a math major workout!Tip: The 100 Rep Pyramid

Only a 6 lb loss here but definitely feels better on the joints. So you guys that lost weight. What’s it like when people ask you if you lost weight, say that you look great, and ask how did you do it? Also bet you feel better, more energy, less joint pain. What other benefits have you seen?
Well obviously, it feels good to hear those things. So you guys that lost weight. What’s it like when people ask you if you lost weight, say that you look great, and ask how did you do it? Also bet you feel better, more energy, less joint pain. What other benefits have you seen?
When I did it previously, people who had not seen me in awhile would look at me funny. You could almost see them wondering if the weight loss was illness-related. Those who knew that I was dieting were very complimentary but I needed to reassure others that it was OK - I MEANT to lose it.So you guys that lost weight. So I will make this statementWell obviously, it feels good to hear those things.
Benefits - I have learned to make good low carb desserts - family and friends enjoy them. When I retire, I am going to open up a low carb bakery. So....that's a plan.
Down 30 since January. I've run into a bunch of people (friends and family) who I haven't seen or haven't seen much. They usually notice right away.So you guys that lost weight. Gelato in moderation? The real stuff in Italy? Really?Well, I’ve been absent on this topic for a while now because my weight loss campaign ran out of steam a bit. Mostly due to mitigating factors (a two-week visit to see my mother, who is of the “mangia, mangia” variety and a more recent three-day lost weekend with other family); the good news is I’m at 194.8 after starting on January 1 at 220.2. So, still down 25.4 pounds v. an original goal to lose 20.
I may not reach my revised goal of 190 by July 1 but think my new normal has stabilized and with another push I should get to 190, and maybe even 185, by the time we leave for Italy on August 4. Then it will be a matter of wine, pizza, pasta, and gelato IN MODERATION. 😀
My mother in law had a place on Marco awhile ago. Great live music at The Snook on the water (acoustic guitar type stuff). Stan's Goodland Tavern in the swamp (anyplace called good-land usually isn't) had a Sunday afternoon jam session that was beyond bizarre. Great time and people watching. I'm pretty sureGoodland is still there. Enjoy! No idea where I was at the start of the year, but I’m down ten pounds in the last month. Been forced to completely change my eating habits and we just booked a week rental on Marco Island, FL so I’ll have to tone up on top of the weight loss.
Just my opinion... Drop the diet Coke. Keep the occasional ice cream cone. If you can, switch to black coffee for caffeine. If you need something sweet in your coffee, try a flavored coffee like vanilla Dunkin donuts. Stay away from iced coffees unless made at home. Most are loaded with calories.I've been following this thread- and feel somewhat guilty in that I've convinced myself I'm too "busy" to jump in. As a teacher who was home all last Spring I was able to do a lot of work in my yard during the day and accomplish grading/school related tasks at night. I've got 2.6 acres and did hella tree work/ stone work/ planting/ watering new plants all around the property and carrying big buckets of water rather than using a hose etc. I also gave up ice cream and Diet Coke completely. Went from a kinda false high of 238 at a physical (though fully dressed) down to 215. My son was home, we were working out and I even did some yoga with him. Son left last Summer. School this year has been a never ending series of change/challenges. I am drinking more Diet Cokes than I used to for caffeine and have one Ice Cream cone a day as a treat. I'll admit to drinking more beer than before to combat the frustrations of working on a merry go round. Back up to 224- but I FEEL like I'm at 250 (kinda like the WIll Smith video).
My wife walks every day and I join her as often as possible (she just texted me that she got it in before the rain today). In March I was considering plumping up to a BMI of 130 to get the Covid shot early (I'm 6'3) but decided against that. I will not lose weight by June- but hope to maybe shred the soda this month and the ice cream next. Then add some sort of routine once I can get myself into something that resembles a routine.
Thanks for the motivation boys....I'm just dragging ass....but the peer pressure is always there and will have a positive impact soon!
Much appreciated on the tips. My bride has got all the gadgets- I had an early version of the Fit Bit but it broke and I've not upgraded. The straight flavored coffee suggestion is a good one. I do load in milk and sugar. We only drink coffee made at home- so I can easily Keurig.Just my opinion... Drop the diet Coke. Keep the occasional ice cream cone. Get a calorie tracker and stick with it. It helps you get into a routine. And you can see what helps you lose weight and what doesn't. My Fitness Pal is a good one. Plus you can find a bunch of good healthy recipes.
Good luck.
Have you tried almond milk in your coffee? I also use Stevia or similar sweetener.Much appreciated on the tips. The healthy recipes have been part of our lifestyle- again- my wife drives with her desire to shed pounds. Tonight I'm grilling her a tuna steak and I've got salmon. With the kids gone we do plan our meals ahead so the quality is better now that we don't need to quantity of food for teenagers.
The Diet Coke quite simply is an addiction. I didn't drink coffee/soda/caffeine regularly until the 96 Olympics in Atlanta. Working 20 hour days in 95 degree heat- all the free Coke products you want. Was hitting 5 or 6 a day at my peak a few years ago. Down to one or two now. Definitely losing it for the summer and hopefully beyond- there is nothing good in there!
I followed an earlier discussion about different fitness/weight loss trends about 6 months ago- focusing primarily on the food delivery services- but then saw that the former O-lineman from the Ravens lost like 200 pounds eating only nuts. I no longer eat a full lunch- peanuts or pistachios with a drink (currently Diet Coke- soon to be seltzer.)
You are right- it gets down to routine and discipline- and making it a priority. I"m moving in the right direction!

That's where I was during Covid Round #1- maybe started at about 234. Significant difference in terms of how I felt! The Lose It app on the iphone works well for tracking weight and calories. Premium version adds other stuff like nutrition, but not needed. 230 down to 217. slow and steady.
We have- and it just didn't work primarily for my wife. She requires her 1% milk to be from the same store/brand every time. I don't taste the slight differences- but she does. Almond milk was too hard of a left turn- and to have it in the house and have her "monitor" my usage would be a pain in the butt!Have you tried almond milk in your coffee? Try coconut milk. Little different taste than almond. And while old school thought said coconut was too high in fat it is now said that it is high in medium chain fats that are healthy and necessary..We have- and it just didn't work primarily for my wife. Track macros, not calories. Tracking calories does not take into account nutrients. 500 calories of chocolate and 500 calories of vegetables are obviously the same amount of calories, but you’ll benefit much more from the vegetables (obviously).I believe that a calorie tracker is way more important for weight loss than a Fit Bit.
Find what works for you and stick to it.

Its not hard to track macros. Lots of apps out there to help. I’m down 28 pounds since super bowl with very little work.
