OT - I'm Curious... Where did your BWI handle come from?

I've grown quite accustomed to seeing a number of the handles on this board over the past 15 + years, even though I didn't post much until recently. In seeing some of the regulars on here over the years, I've always created an image in my head of what people actually look like.

It got me thinking... What's the story behind your handle?

Mine's pretty simple. I was a diehard 15 year old kid that was completely jacked to start the 2001 season with a rare night game against the #2 ranked Miami Hurricanes, scoring a late b-day present from my dad to attend on the 40 yard line. Will never forget Adam running out of that tunnel.

Also, I like that you can see when people joined.

The August 17th, 2001 next to my handle is somewhat creepy for me... 2 reasons:
  1. I can't help but think of the horrible tragedy that would take place less than a month after creating this account. It was a completely different world prior to 9/11, which feels like so long ago... but I can actually say reading this forum was a part of that world! There's not many other examples of that in my life.
  2. This board has been part of my life for HALF of it!.. I just turned 30 in June.
Here's to the next 15 years folks!

Yea mine is super creative and interesting....its my name. LOL.
Now my email address has been the original AOL name they gave me about 20+ years ago (ughhh I'm getting old) with @verizon or yahoo adde.
My signature pic or avatar is of a metal dragon sculpture in Borrego Springs, CA.
Yep heres to another 15 years and may that be a damn site better than the last 5.

My first choice was "Art". But, some strunze beat me to it.

So, I became MackDaddy.

Damn! I haven't heard "strunze" since my cute little Italian girlfriend's mother used to call me that daily back in high school in the late 70's. ****ing awesome!!!

Raz are my initials. Grew up in state college and father was a professor of mechanical engineering at penn state. Went to penn state and graduated hrim. Now in Myrtle beach. Been a member since I think 1996. At least that is when I started coming to the bwi board. I lived in Phoenix at the time and it took forever to dial In and the connection kept freezing and crashing. Amazing what it has become.

I remember those days.
Heck I remember the days where Phil had you call a telephone # for recruiting news. IIRC you had to pay by the minute and
with apologies to Phil he isn't exactly a "fast talker". LOL.

On a more serious note, I've been lurking daily for a decade and just started posting this week. I have some sobering news to share regarding a former player and can't figure out how to post a new topic. Can someone help me out? I want to do something nice for him before he passes. To clarify, when I hit the "post new topic" button up top on my mobile, it takes me to an error screen. Is there a workaround? Thanks in advance.

at the top of the page where it says "post a new thread". If it's who I'm thinking of, I've had the same idea....I'll leave it to you to start. *hint...I'm from Danville...

Hotshoe, well, I'm a farrier and a blacksmith as well.

Seriously? Thats prettty cool. Not too many of you around.
When I was a kid there was an older black man (ok I was like 10 so he was probably only 40) LOL, in town that was a Farrier and Blacksmith.
Super nice guy and had hands the size of basketballs and arms an NFL Lbr' would envy. He also did some really cool metal and welding work.

Mine is pretty boring, I lived in White Plains, NY when I joined. I now live in Charlotte, so it makes little sense. My photo may be the prettiest picture ever taken of Budd Lake, NJ.

We're talking about the same guy. I'll try starting a thread later on my laptop and see if it's just a problem with this little telephone.

When I came to this board back in the old days, my son was ~ 8 years old. I took him to a laser tag game where you choose a name and they compile your hits and kills. I was busy so wan't paying attention. Afterward he gave me his score card and his name was "Obliviax" which I thought was funny. I'd never heard of it. Later that week, I signed up for the McAndrew board. I don't know what it is. I know there was an 80's big hair band named Obliviax. I understand it is also a dungeons and dragons character, but I think that came about later.

Hit button that says post new thread. We should post and have Penn Staters wish him well.

Mine is a childhood nickname given to me by older cousins whom used to babysit me. Toddler Magoo had a tendency to just run into things without regard for his body.

I have one of those Polish last names, 12 letters with an assortment of vowels ... the drill sergeants called me alphabet back in the day - especially humorous with their Hispanic accent.

Wife shortened things by calling me Dibble and sometimes called me Dibbs ...

Still go by the 12 letter Polish last name, wife flew by her maiden name back in the early 80s, but in my postings, I refer to her as MrsDibbs.
