I bought a rosewood end table and coffee table in the late 1980s when the sale of this wood was legal. I am pretty sure it is simply rosewood veneer. I am wondering whether it has any special value or not or whether it is just a regular type of furniture. I am thinking of selling it and want to sell it at a fair price. If I can figure it out, I will attach pictures later.

You could contact a consignment shop and get a pretty good idea of its value.

I already have a potential buyer. Want to be fair to her and to myself.
Rosewood furniture is very unique and can be tricky to sell. Check with local antique dealers or online. The average consignment shop or second hand furniture shop will not have any idea what they are dealing with.

Good luck!

Nice try, but roses grow on a bush.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion. It is a good idea. Previously, I had worked with some very skilled at mixing stains and carpentry work and was going to run it by him, but I haven't been able to run him down.

As stated the obvious solution is to get someone whom is around furniture sale involved. That said , MY educated GUESS is there isn't any [substantial ] value added because it is rosewood. If it is already a unique piece or antique etc...most of the value would come from that . My 'education' has been experience in Southwestern art collecting circles. Particularly Antique Navajo / Chimayo rugs and etc.....although that life seems to expose one to all manner of crazy collectors and vendors.

Be curious to see if right . Maybe in the next life on 3

I originally thought this was worth a lot, but seeing thick rosewood furniture for sale online for something like $4,000 makes me think the furniture is not worth that much.

Style?

Simply rectangles with what I am 90% sure is a veneer. Nothing special about the veneer or tables other than pretty good looking deep red colors.
I am no good at assessments, but a place like the one I linked might be a source. I could also ask our guild if they know some ways to assess. Danish Teak Classics - Buys furniture.

The key is to find someone "close" to where you live. Yes I like to state the obvious.

Honestly, I am not trying to get the last $50 out of this. Just something fair for me or the buyer. If you are on the on3 board, I will try to post my question there in a day or 2 with the picture. Thanks a lot for the link.

Will add that the rosewood is popular with Chinese people and an owner of a Chinese restaurant has expressed some interest in the furniture.
