OT Sheetz Coffee

Doesn’t matter what I think. Billion dollar company’s want to play by a different set of rules. And throw money and weight around. Until they get what they want. And step on the small business in the process. It’s just the way it goes.
Careful, soon someone will call you a commie.

Disagree... what the hell could be more-convenient than a CONVENIENCE store?

Joe’s six-pack shop will soon be out of business ... bars will no longer need to have brown paper bags for six-pack sales ... mark. It. Down.

There are no six pack shops in New York State, and nobody buys a six-pack over-the-bar, either... don’t need to when you can guy a 12pk of Genesee at 7-11 or Wegmans

Joe's six-pack shop will be doing just fine if it's not near a Sheetz, and a locally-owned shop like Lykens Market will do just fine too. Hell, fewer and fewer bars around this area even have a takeout cooler.

This is what I'm trying to research today. How big of a cup do they allow? Can it be a thermos? Or does it have to be a cup? I'm trying to reduce my single use packaging waste as much as possible, so I'm always looking for new ways to do this. Buying a thermos is one solution.

I think they’ll allow a thermos. You’re best bet is to ask the next time your in a Sheetz. I didn’t know about the .95 refills until an employee told me as a courtesy because he saw me several times using a disposable Sheetz cup.

I'm majorly pro Sheetz - over Wawa or any of the lesser convenience store chains. But - Sheetz coffee tastes like it's brewed with dirty socks. Horrible.

Way, way off the topic mini rant- recently had a tire very low pressure. Freezing, sub 10 degree day. No gas stations around but a Turkey Hill. $1.75 to fill up my tires!!!! I will never stop at a Turkey Hill again, ever....even if it means pushing my out of gas car to the next station.

I remember the good old days when the local store/gas station had an air hose outside where a person could pressure up their tires - FOR FREE!!! Imagine that.

Since this is a Sheetz thread, it should be pointed out that:

1. Sheetz still has free air.
2. Regardless of what they might have done to make it happen, Sheetz has led the way to more convenient ways to purchase beer.
3. They still allow me a way to pump my gas before having to pay by cash.
4. They have the cleanest restrooms of any convenience store chain I've visited.

I've seen people with 44oz refill cups same $1.00

What I want PA and MD to do is sell beer, wine and Alcohol in a Grocery Store like they do in CA, AZ, NM...
Oh hell lets just include Weed as well.:)

I buy beer and wine in my grocery stores in Pa. My local Acme and McCafferys both carry a decent selection of popular brands. You must not be living in the right part of PA.

But New Jersey has a better selection and prices at their discount liquor stores like Canal’s, so I usually stock up across the river.

FWIW—popcorn at major sports/ entertainment venues makes about 1300% profit

I’ll go with the $6 bottled water as the winner. Costco sells bottles of water for 25 cents in the vending machine. Assuming this isn’t charity, they maybe pay a nickel a bottle and still make a profit, albeit not huge. So maybe an arena or stadium pays about 15 cents delivered and sells it for $6. That’s quite a hefty profit. Or shit swill like Bud Light for $11 a tall can at Citifield. What’s the markup on that

To the OP, you don’t like Sheetz coffee but like Dunkin? Oy.

$2.29 for an X Large WTF.

Crab coffee for $2.29 that’s a little extreme isn’t it???

Sheetz coffee is undrinkable. It's embarrassing how bad it is. I'm not picky, but Sheetz is literally the only cup of coffee I've ever bought and refused to drink. It is so bad I will NEVER buy it again. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit thinking about it.

Joe’s six pack shop will go the way of the video rental store ...
I don't believe people really understand just how difficult it is for a mom and pop to make money. Depending upon location, the ones likely to survive are in the country with little to no competition. If you've ever owned a store you know these things. Gas is a loss not a profit. Rents can be high. You cannot sell items such as beer and soda at any price you want to. The distributors will warn you then cut you off for doing so. There are no choices when it comes to distribution of these items either therefore there's no bargaining. None. Cigarettes are basically the same. You simply cannot go somewhere and buy stock then resell it on these items as it's illegal. The majority of your fastest moving items are pre priced by the distributors. Again, you cannot price above what's preprinted on the product. Then you have the problem of volume. There simply isn't a lot in a mom and pop store. In essence to make these work, you need to be married to the business. It's a very difficult life nowadays.
