OT: The 2019 Masters

This is like the old days when everyone gags around Tiger and he walks to another major championship.

Had to work this morning and got back for his last 4 shots. Incredible roar when he won. Love to see that emotion.

GREATEST sports comeback of all time....bar none! And wasn't it amazing how many players waited for him. They know what Tiger has done for all of them...

Hard not to get a little teary-eyed somewhere from the 18th tap-in through the Butler presentation.

(So I have Directv and we’re having a spring snowstorm in Chicagoland today. My reception went out with Tiger on 12, came back on (almost magically) as he was on 18. Watched on the internet via my computer while the television was out.....not quite the same.)

Apparently you haven’t watched much golf in the last few months. Adam has been using a short putter that looks like the Taylormade Spider but with a bigger head. And if he goes to the long putter, he’s employing the same stroke that Kuchar and Webb Simpson use - up the forearm. Unless you think those two are cheating too.
Who said anything about current mr wobbly hands lover

All the experts and blow holes saying he is done, he will never win again, never win a major....need to suck it. When Tiger is on his game, he can win any tournament against anyone.

I have to laugh at the moral high ground everyone has taken when referencing Tiger. F them. Tiger is a great golfer... the best...who knows... He is human and has character flaws.. I could care less if Tiger bangs truck stop whores... who cares... and who is ANYONE to judge.

Glad to see he won and prove the idiots wrong. If you ever watched him, you would never doubt he could win if he was healthy..

Not the usual Sunday at Augusta. We're used to seeing all kinds of fireworks on the back 9. This was a day of survival and Tiger did the best, all the credit to him. Koepka and Schauffele will be kicking themselves when they look back at what could have been.

I'm 57 and Jack was my hero. Today was the first time Tiger came from behind to win a major. I tip my cap to him. That was well done.

Yes, and Molinari sure choked with the two water balls which produced two double bogeys. Woods earned it after four back surgeries. I wonder if the surgeon who did the most recent will get a bonus?

That was great to watch but greatest comeback ever, which they said on TV? I don't buy that. There are four majors every year and after 11 years Tiger was able to win another one. Great, but I don't see it as that shocking or amazing. Guys come back from stuff. It happens. It was questionable whether Andrew Luck would ever be able to play again because of an injury to his throwing should and then last year he was one of the best QBs in the league. To me that's as great a comeback as Tiger winning another major.

Yeah um,,,,, I don’t think you understand how jacked up his back really was. Your post wreaks of the casual fan which is fine. He wasn’t even going to golf again ever at one point.

Agreed. The Back Nine at Agusta is all about managing the emotions and the game. Some of those are simply par holes. Tiger, you'll notice, played it really safe on 12 hitting an Iron between the bunkers after FM dunked his. He knew he could get up and down in two with a long put or from either bunker. Plus, he played a 3 wood off the tee at 18. He simply managed his game better while waiting for the others to implode under the pressure.

That's why Tiger is tiger and the rest are just some damn good pro golfers.

Heck, a year ago he was barely able to walk.....!

Maybe he’s not the “old” Tiger, but this new “older” Tiger is a humbled, much-more-likeable human being that can still play golf and compete successfully with the very very best golfers in the world.

Tiger is notoriously cheap

Yes, yes and yes.

And what is even sweeter was just sending a text to a coupla guys who play in our weekend 12some who hated Tiger and enjoyed his hiatus..."GREATEST COMEBACK EVER...go fvck yourself!"
Hats off to him. Still don’t care for him as a personality. More so in that he always seems miserable.

He was really beaming at the press conference.

I also don't care for his personal life. But now in his 40's, he's got a new lease on life and is probably less "male toxic" than the one in his late 20s. I can relate. Nobody is perfect and in the same circumstances, hard to be sure we all wouldn't do the same thing. What is the old line? "We aren't perfect, just forgiven."

Tiger now has a chance to be something really special in terms of his leadership, ambassadorship and leaving a legacy beyond golf. If he can win a few more events and stay clean, he'll be remembered for the new Tiger and not the one that got clubbed in the face with a five iron by his wife while he was sexting the soon-to-be ex-wife of Matt Hahn.

watched the "at the masters" show on golf channel last night. They interviewed Jack N. I was kind of surprised at what he said:
  • loves tiger and isn't rooting against him, but doesn't want his records to be broken
  • said that TW played one of the smartest games he's seen. He made the turn and pounced when his competition screwed up. But that is the masters.
  • he said that 12 is a very difficult hole and tiger aiming between the two bunkers was a guy who knew the course, in a close match, better than the competition
  • Said Tiger is driving it now, which is the different between winning and losing
  • Said Tiger is one of the best putters but is the best "feel players" he's ever seen

Nicklaus wants his legacy as the best who ever played. It’s a legitimate debate. I think Tiger is. Tiger changed the game with his length off the tee and forced golf courses to adjust because of that. Now all the young guys hit it long too, but Tiger can still win against arguably tougher competition than Nicklaus faced in his day.

They had a robust convo on this all afternoon and last night on the golf channel. Tiger wins in most categories unless you add in length of career. With Tiger's performance last year and this year, it seems likely he'd have hit 18 majors. He hasn't won a major since 2008 around the same time he started having problems with his knees and back.

So if you are looking at career achievement, its still a valid argument. If you look at zenith and affect on the game of golf, it is easily Tiger. Of course, a lot has to do with cable TV and the ubiquitous nature of spots today.

Tiger wins $2,070,000.

D Johnson, Koepka and Schauffele each earn $858,667.

Molinari and Finau, falling back to a four-way tie for fifth with Day and Simpson, each earn $403,938.

Well it should be fairly simple to be happy after winning the Master’s! I was referring to the 99% if the rest of the time you see him on the course. Again hats off to him...just would have rather seen almost anyone else win. But to each their own...

Easily Tiger?. Did he have to contend with Arnie, Gary, and Tom? Hardly! Tiger was great but Nicklaus is still #1.
