OT: Weekend Jukebox - whatcha got?

This is the song I was listening to when Joe left us.

It's the song I have been listening to earlier this week when my old friend, who had contacted me after 30 years to let me know she was dying of cancer, also left us.

Man, that is a crushing song. Great artist, great lyricist, great album.

I've posted this song before. GC did a great cover of it (better than this to be honest). I always ask though of Mr. Browne - how does one write this at age 16?

Here's GC's version:

I watched a documentary on Netflix last night about The Wrecking Crew, who were studio musicians in LA that played on all manner of hit records. The public would think the group putting out the album was playing it but really it was the session musicians. There were LOTS of songs they did and here is just one.

Great documentary. They all belong in the stupid RRHOF before Madonna or Donna Summer.

There's a Sonny & Cher song from the 60s named "And The Beat Goes On" that has a bass line that makes the entire song. In the documentary, Carol Kaye (Wrecking Crew bassist) showed what Sonny had written for it originally, which was just the same note over and over. Carol Kaye made up the bass line that ended up in the song, which made the song a million times better.

One of my favorite old Newhart bits on deciding whether or not to neuter his cat - "Nutty George". He actually gets in the phrase - "you've got to take a detached attitude" Brilliant.

I guess after a post like that I ought to link to the song so you can see what I mean, especially since it's a jukebox thread anyway.
