O'Toole vs. Carr on Feb. 15

The officiating like every dual sucks. Missed escape late that would have changed the 157 match. Just really bad.

Jacques beats Kraisser 2-0. TD in the first and ride out. Each guy rode the other out in the 2nd and 3rd. And now it’s O’Toole and Carr!

Carr vs O’Toole

Hand fighting, fakes, some ear to ear thru a minute. No committed shots. O’Toole shoots from distance and then Carr does the same. Carr in on a single with a minute to go and it’s a scramble. Carr eventually gets behind with 20 secs to go. O’Toole to his feet and Carr gets a mat return. 2-0 Carr after one.

Carr chooses bottom. To his feet and out in less than 10 secs. 3-0 Carr. O’Toole shoots, gets in deep and a quick finish. 3-2. Carr out quickly 4-2. And they stop the action to review the TD. Call stands. 4-2 Carr with 1:30 to go in 2nd. O’Toole shot stuffed by Carr via standing front headlock. Stalemate. O’Toole in low. Carr stops it, reshoots and gets TD with less than 10 left in period. 6-2 Carr after two.

O’Toole chooses bottom. Carr rides for 52 secs till OOB although O’Toole was close to a reversal at one point. O’Toole to his feet a couple times but Carr stays in control. Stall on Carr for no return. Restart. O’Toole to his feet but Carr gets the mat return and rideout. 7-2 Carr with a riding point is the final.

Next FRL should be fun.

Carr controlled that match the whole way.

Carr wins 7-2 over O'Toole. He was really impressive. Two td's in the 1st period. Rode him out in the 3rd.

Turns out, Flo is good for something.

Carr has increased his technical ability, and to the looks of it, added considerable strength. He almost had to work as hard to score vs O’Toole as he did Alex. ;)

Fun match. Carr controlled it, but the story is just beginnin.

Carr looked great there. Keegan was close on a second takedown in the second but David showed great defense and then got a huge late 2nd takedown of his own. Rides him out in the 3rd. Great match. Can’t wait to hear Askren’s thoughts.

I’d have to rewatch the Facundo/Carr match but Alex is right there.

Alex's defense was strong but he wasn't close to taking Carr down. Also, I'm not the biggest fan of his rubber kneeing ... led to him getting injured for a bit.

O'Toole obviously not near the top of the weight class.

if you think that match has any bearing on facundo you’re out of your mind. he lost to patrick kennedy like a week ago guys.

“nelson brands is clearly a title contender at 174 because he lost on RT to starocci”. that’s how foolish you sound.

great match from carr

Didn’t anyone tell you? Facundo was sick on January 27th.

You had a freshman wrestling a national champion for the first time and you act like his 4-2 loss was a blowout or something. And you totally disregard what Cael and his staff does in developing elite recruits especially in preparing them for March. I get it, you've called it all year that Facundo won't AA... you're being consistent but you're an idiot to keep talking as if he's a bum.

Someone should ask Ben if Carr reminds him of Chris Pendleton.

I can't wait for 165 at nationals. Carr looks unbeatable and O'Toole and Griffith and former champs in the draw as well. Then there is Monday always a contender, plus the young guns Hamiti, Kennedy, Facundo, and Kharchla coming from the B1G. Oh yeah, and Cam Amine, too. Yee haw, bring it on!!!!

I think Facundo is every bit as good as Haines right now as a freshman. The only reason we talk about Haines as a potential contender and not Facundo is because, well, you just saw Carr, right? The gap between Carr at 165 and Robb at the top of 157 is like night and day. I think Facundo will AA, along with at least Hamiti and Kennedy from the B1G. Where he ends up in there will be great to watch.

I’d have to watch it again, but I think Johnson tried to step over Mauller’s whizzer and I could hear my middle school coach screaming “never step over a whizzer”, followed by “that’s why”.
Here it is. Johnson did step over the whizzer and tried to hook the leg. Mauller blocked the leg, then grabbed the ankle, sat on Johnson's shoulder, and rolled back over.

The technique on the first takedown was AB-esque. I’m always impressed at how AB does things by the book, and that’s exactly what Care did on the first finish. Just step by step until he got the finish.
I was more impressed with the tenacity he showed in finishing the second TD.

Only got to watch last match of dual but the crowd seemed pretty into it as well. 165 will have the best quarters of any weight in Tulsa. Talented group of wrestlers.
