Football Penn State earns victory No. 5, defeating Big Ten newcomer UCLA on Saturday

Totally agree, but with the way the game is played today, I don't think you can beat the good teams unless you have a fully functional passing game with a QB who can sling the rock.

You saw it in both those scoring drives. Drew's ability to hit his receivers...and their ability to get open and catch the ball...were critical and helped set up the running attack.

The running attack was doing fine without the passes.

Until they went with the weird plays.

For example at the 6 they went with the quick to the line play 2x. Both times our OL missed their reads.

That's not power running.

We have fans who are making comments like "not playing like a 5*" and "Allar doesn't have IT" on a day he's 10/14 with 1, perhaps 2 drops.

Every incomplete pass = you would think he threw a pick 6.

He isn't flawless, but good grief it's painful reading. Some of these people obviously don't watch any other football or just don't criticize other teams the same.

Halftime analysis: two beautiful scoring drives and D starting to exert itself. Their back-up QB has played pretty darn well, which is to his credit, but like the Illinois guy last week, he may well crumble in the 2nd half while having to run the offense from behind with the dogs lets loose on D.

In short, I think my blowout prediction may yet pan out.

Correct it's clear who doesn't watch other QBs regularly. Apparently they think other QBs never miss a pass

C'mon guy ... he's a 5* ... that means, like every other 5* before him, he should be 14/10, and have run up and caught the drops himself. Otherwise ... no confidence in him.

Yeah, the Drew we saw on those two scoring drives is the one we need. Sharp. Confident. In rhythm. He did miss a throw early in the game, the one to Fleming, but was otherwise excellent in every respect. No complaints here.

AK seemingly has new wrinkles every week. I guess part of his planning requires doing these things while the game is still in question.

I think this offense has the ability to do multiple things, at will, any time AK wants as long as the players fulfill their obligations. The 16 play drive was methodical. The 2nd TD drive was a lot of precise, accurate passes.

Not having Singleton is important. He is the home run threat of the rushing game.

You just said the opposite. You are absolutely illiterate. Seriously ... go away.
I didn't. I said why do you care if the game is called fair...hence the game is being called fair as they acknowledged and they're still complaining. Follow a thread

Not having him in the pass game hurts as well. Allen lining up in the slot doesn't do anything for us.

They were--the photo and the replay shows that. The Big Ten statement reinforced it.
Not sure why you're all still worried about a game that didn't impact us but...

“Effective immediately, the Big Ten has been approved by the NCAA to implement a modified officiating mechanic that will allow the conference to change the manner in which it officiates onside kicks by positioning the Line Judge and Head Line-Judge on the kicking team’s restraining line, thereby putting multiple officials in the best position to consistently make the correct judgment"

The Big Ten Statement did not acknowledge it was the correct call. In fact, in making an changes to "consistently make the correct judgement," it acknowledges there was a incorrect judgement.

The game has to be called consistently for both teams which they are
I disagree--it's way bigger when offisde on an onside kick--and the defensive player being offside had no impact on our play
Officiating crews are inconsistent from one to another but that's not the discussion. Why do you care if the game is called fair?
What impact did the called player have on the onside kick? The ball went 25 yards downfield before being recovered. It was perfect and the incompetent official blew it to mich's advantage.
Shameful as are your arguments.

Why care if a game is called fairly? Is this for real. I guess unfair is ok if your team wins.

BTW: how many on side kicks were there in that game? No chance to be consistent on that particular play.

Consistency--nothing about it being wrong

The players. The coaches. The fans.....

That's who.

You've never competed. That much is obvious.
Correct--and as it was said--the game is being called fair
Following a conversation is clearly difficult for a few of you

I like to think he's just giving teams as much homework as possible, making the final exam bigger and bigger as the season progresses. Just my opinion.

Why are people not following this. It was stated game by game is called fair therefore why do you care about all of this if you're admitting the game is called fair
One occurred and it was called--no issues

So, Klatt said KJ is out for the year...does any media member dare ask to confirm this? And, will we ever find out what the injury or reason is?

I think the running game was doing fine. But without Drew hitting those throws, I don't think we don't drive the field to score the two touchdowns.

To beat good teams, I think you need both dimensions on O, one complementing the other. The old saying was that the run sets up the pass. These days it often works the other way around.

I mean, we saw this in painful action last year against the Big-2. The passing game was not a serious threat, so their D simply loaded up against the run. Eezy-peezy.

Carter with the 1st down TFL and the scrape over that allowed Reed a lane to get the strip sack. Lucky bounce back to the QB or that's 1st and goal inside the 5 or TD by the defense.

On the 2nd of those runs it looked like Allar should have kept the ball and walked in to the left. Allar should be keeping the ball on those plays once or twice a half.

Saunders catches the ball, that is all I can say about his punt returning, there was a lot there if he could make 1 guy miss.

Probably not but I thought we all just accepted he was out for the year????
Franklin won't answer it regardless. He wouldn't even say Singleton would be out for a game (assuming it's a game)

The whole injury process is ridiculous.
