Wrestling Penn State Picks Up Commitment From 2024 Lightweight Luke Lilledahl

ED NOTE: Lilledahl is ranked No. 2 in the country @ 120 by Willie and No. 5 in the P4P.

He’s also ranked No. 2 on 2024 Big Board, behind fellow PSU commit Joe Sealey, though that will be updated in the coming weeks per Willie.

Penn State currently has commits from Nos. 1, 2, 4, 8, 12 and 19 on the 2024 Big Board.
Another tremendous recruit. All I can say is that we are so fortunate to have a wrestling program at PS , led my Cael Sanderson and his truly outstanding coaches Cody, Casey and Jimmy. We are in the midst of wrestling dynasty.. As a fan we are spoiled by such excellence year after year. We should be grateful that this program attracts such talented and fine young men. The culture and the consistency of excellence, that Cael and his team have created is very special. We continue to get top recruit after top recruit so consistently over the past decade is truly special. You wonder if it will slow down or end, but it doesn't. The incredible 2024 class is just another endorsement of what is happening at PS. We are blessed and fortunate to watch something this special. Gratefulness is the word we all should feel as a PS wrestling fan.

He needs to get an NIL deal from LL Cool J's Rock the Bells Radio station on Sirius XM.

This just in. The NCAA has ruled, just to make D1 wrestling more competitive, PSU wrestlers are restricted to 3 years of eligibility.

Unintended consequence. Instead of 2 year recruiting waves, Cael secures the top class every year.

Is it really fair if we start hanging post-season championship banners AND pre-season, recruiting championship banners? We're going to need to rent space at the BJC to hang them all. At least there's no basketball ones taking up space!
I have thought about the national champion pictures for individual wrestlers in the room. They are pretty large. When we run out of room on the wall(s), I think it's time for a new facility

Welcome Luke!

St. Charles, Missouri and High Point, North Carolina, respectively.
I live fairly near High Point, NC and I must say -- it's remarkable to have one of the best young wrestlers in the country emerge from High Point. There is not a great tradition of wrestling in North Carolina, though NC State's recent success seems to be of interest.

Just goes to show that wrestling talent can come from many places -- and evidently, the Sealey family realized that it made sense to get Joe Sealey into Wyoming Sem for further development.

I'll follow his PSU career with great interest. Maybe Cael can even schedule a road match vs NC State or UNC?

I lived in Kernersville and worked for the City of High Point. You are right. Wrestling isn't a popular sport in that area.

Cody Merrill, no fit, tremendous wrestler but Cael liked Mirasola's ceiling/style more.
Merrill seems way overranked at first glance. Don't even think he won Cali states this year.

I don't love this class. I'd probably put Ferrari as my number 1 guy based on talent and results, but the off the mat family circus complicates the evaluation. Davino would be my 2 followed by Sealey.

I can't decide what I think of Lilledahl. Was very underwhelmed by him early. Then he had a MONSTER season and I thought he maybe made a jump, but was pretty underwhelming again at elite 8. The guy he reminds me of a little is Tony Ramos with the way he darts around on reattacks.

Need to dive deeper on Ryder eventually.

Merrill was hurt and didn’t wrestle in high school this season. He won California state title the previous year though

Does he have a brother? I could have sworn I watched a Merrill lose in the finals this year.

Editing to say it's really unfair that Cody Merrill has a younger brother named Coby at the same weight who could be his twin lol.
