Herbert may have just thrown another picksure.
ND QB wasn't any better. Certainly not if one of ND's cornerbacks fell down and gave up a 53 yard TD pass. Ewers? Had a lower QB rating than Allar. Howard had a great QB rating but he also benefits from having the best WR corp in the NCAA, perhaps in the top five all time.
The last minutes INT made Allar's performance look awful. And it was. But it isn't as bad as people want to believe. In a loss, the QB takes the blame (in a win, he gets way too much credit). Regardless, he is 20 years old. Ewers is 21. Leonard is 22. Howard is 23.
NFL in big games?
- Jordon Love, 20 of 33 for 212 yards, zero TDs and 3 INTS
- All pro Jalen Hurts? 13-21 for 131 yards, two TDs and 0 INTS
- Baker Mayfield, 15 of 18 for 185 yards, two TDs and 0 INTS 9 (a horrible fumble on a handoff though)
Nix talked about how poorly he played after the first start
Russell Wilson couldn't do anything anything the Steelers were down big
Being a QB and playing a strong defense when games matter is always going to be challenging--even more so when you have only one weapon
