Pitt fans say the darndest things

Based on those stats, it looks like we had an OL that wasn't particularly good, and so we asked our RBs to carry too much of the rushing load.

Yep, paying what a normal P5 team would charge for 1 game and getting season tickets, to be used for 1 game with the remainder of the tickets contributing to global warming as they are burned....

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Penn State fans for pouring money into the Pitt athletic program.

"pouring money".... Paying a price normally associated with a single game ticket for season tickets..... It seems it's all relative, and in this case could be restated as: "getting the tickets sold before they are given away at Giant Eagle...."

No small potatoes. We just helped Pitt double their season ticket sales.

Didn't their previous AD say that the increase in season ticket sales in 2016 was NOT due to having us on their schedule? Maybe he new poor sap that has the job will at least admit that their fan base can't support more than 20K season tickets without having a premium OOC opponent that travels well.

I remember I had a severe case of jock rot...lasting what seemed like my entire senior football season. I kinda missed it when it dried up and healed. That's probably how PC "misses" Pitt.
Eww! Gross.

That’s all.

Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi:
"The one thing I'm looking forward to is rectifying the season from last year to this year, just proving to everybody what kind of football team we have and where we're going. To me, it's a challenge. You win five games but you don't have every piece you need and you don't have a quarterback. I think we've got a good football team, and I'm looking forward to putting that on the field, turn our kids loose on the field."

No coach makes more excuses or throws players under the bus more than good old Pat

“It’s just another excuse”

I thought they had a former 5 star to start the season. I thought he was going to lead Pitt to an ACC championship and mop the floor with us at Beaver Stadium last year. How can they not have had a QB? Maybe someone should have watched some film of him or had him in for a few throwing sessions before letting him transfer.

No QB? It’s amazing they won 5 games with only 10 Offensive players on the field!

Narduzzi should have been Coach of the Year. It’s one thing to be a player short in soccer, but to play American football with only 10 players and no QB.....wow!

Wait a minute, wait a minute, WAIT. A. MINUTE.

This does not jive at all with what we heard from Pitt fans a year ago, that their all-world 5-star transfer was going to come into Beaver stadium and light up our secondary. One year ago, that guy was way better than our pop-gun-armed jump-ball-throwing signal caller. Now HCPN says he was no good? I mean, I know that THIS YEAR, Pickett is going to come in and go completely nuts in the passing game and throw for like 400 yards against PSU on his way to his first Heisman; that much is totally obvious. Because this is the year that it all comes together. This time it will. But I'm still confused about last year.

And what about recruits that he's schmoozing right now? Should they believe what he is telling them now, or should they believe what he says about them later when he is pinning Pitt's continued mediocrity on them? Again, very confusing.

I wonder if on the recruiting trail, PSU - sorry - the teams that recruit against Pitt like Toledo, Cental Michigan, Temple, Rutgers, Buffalo, and Southern Illinois, will use this against Mr. Negative Recruiterpants?

Pitt=successful season?
"13-0 with a shot at the playoffs. There isn't a team on the schedule that Pitt can't beat."

Well, there you have it.

AND.....On the other hand:

“0-13 with a shot at nothing. There isn’t a team on the schedule that can’t beat Pitt!”

WVU’s past is pretty much the same as their present...big expectations for no reason followed by a let down.
1022 you do realize that Wvu has won more games since 2000 than Psu has?Expectations are high again in 2018 but I'm looking at 9-3 but I'm a pessimist.

And how many games would PSU have won if Ohio State, Michigan and Iowa would have left the Big 10? You know, like Miami, Va Tech and BC left the Big East? That’s when WVU really had their “golden years”. They played in a weak conference that got even weaker when those teams left and WVU remained. Expectations are always high and most of the time there’s no reason for it. Their fan base thinks they should just reload every year, then when they don’t they blame the coach.

1022 I'm not smart enough to answer what if questions.I have no idea how many games Psu would of won if those teams left the Big.Tell me how many would they have won.I just know that Wvu won more games than Psu since 2000. OK let's get back to Pitt.
For the record Holgersen is a terrible recruiter of High School players which makes coaching very difficult.

Here's a little know fact about Pitts first National Championship.Demosthene was the QB on that team in 354 BC and the coach was Captain Sidney Reilly!
Hopefully Demosthenes wasn't color blind he'd never be able to follow the plays as they were drawn on papyrus.

WVU has been a school that has traditionally attracted urban athletes from areas that now have Big Ten network penetration. Plus, the ACC has expanded up and down the east coast. Hence, it's not nearly as easy for them to recruit. It's not just Holgerson.

And recruits are on to the fact that west virginia is just west virginia.

Holgersen has about the same charisma as Narduzzi there in lies his recruiting problem.
The school is located in a state with almost no D-1 talent and whether it’s right or not, WV does have a stereotype attached to it which keeps a lot of kids from wanting to go there. It’s not Holgersen, it’s the school. What Holgersen is able to accomplish in terms of recruiting is actually pretty impressive. No other coach there has recruited much better.
