PSU - Ohio State 2020 Dual Thread

Weird that Sasso was so tentative, maybe the environment got to him. And maybe Verk should've taken one of those throws, given his stamina late in matches.
His style is to keep it close and try to make it happen at the end....but to me he wrestles almost like the L doesn't rank high on his pissed off meter. Very even keeled kid

Sasso is very savvy defensively. He relies on that a lot to win close matches. He keeps chugging along winning the close ones.

No one wants to watch that trash. LOL. Sorry he beat Lugo. I don't much like Lugo either, but I'll take him over ol BecaHi Sammy in a heartbeat.

That sound we heard with berge running out was an engine getting turned on for a march post season run.

Its happening.

And just wait until Raptor starts feeding again.

My bad on the team score, as Lee didn't get a major. It's a 6-6 tie at this point

157: Brady Berge vs. Quinn Kinner

Berge's 2nd match of the season. Nice to have him back

Per 1
nothing thru the 1st period. Basically just a lot of collar ties. Berge with a shot at 1:30, nothing. Berge shoots again, and gets behind for the TD, 2-0. Kinner on a sit-out and he's out, 2-1. End

Per 2
Berge takes bottom. He's active, back down, up to his feet, and out in 11 sec, 3-1. Kinner has yet to shoot. And just like that, he does, but they go OOB with 1:21 left. Berge with a shot, but blocked. Berge shoots, but blocked. Kinner reaches, nothing. End

Per 3
Kinner takes bottom. He sits out, and he's out in 12 sec, 3-2. Kinner shoots and is in on a low single, Berge reaches over for an ankle, loses it, and gives up the TD, 3-4. Kinner throws in a leg, and has Berge flat. Damn, only Kinner's 2nd shot of the match. Berge starts to work up, but flattened again. End. It's a 3-4 DEC for Kinner

9-6, Ohio State, at the intermission

Maybe Berge needs some conditioning.

Verk is the king of the heartbreakingly close losses. In SV they need to coach him to let it fly. Two matches in a row he’s got beaten to the punch. A big win would do wonders for his confidence
Vera's entire MO is to shorten the match and somehow get a TD or reversal to win by one point. That strategy keeps him in a lot of matches (and results in a lot of close matches), but it's tough to pull off because he doesn't have much offense and also isn't real strong on top.

How

things that make you go hmmm...
He was a 141. Lost to Pletcher at wrestle offs. Tried to make an insane cut to 133 and could only hold it for a couple weeks. 157 was the closest makeable open weight. He's really lanky, so he didn't look tiny, but he's not cutting any weight to make 157. Same reason Gavin Hoffman is now at Heavyweight because he couldn't be effective at 184. He's a 197, but that's locked down with Moore.

Well everybody wanted Berge back, you got him not impressed

Actually, I thought Brady’s gas tank was better than certainly I expected. He was solid for 2 periods. I just hope it’s not too late in the season. I’ve learned that we need to trust in Cael.

Would love to know what went into the decision to wrestle Berge. His choice? Cael? At this late stage in the season I don’t see it. Hope he rally’s from here, sticks around and has a couple of great years.
