Question for Marshall

At least I have a degree from PSU
But it's a diminished "branch campus" degree from NW Pennsylvania.

You talk too much about yourself.

It took me all of 6 minutes to search the archives and positively ID you exclusively using information you have provided on this board. I also used Mr. Google for 30 seconds for corroboration.

I'll stop now.

So do you sit with keeping Franklin? In all cases? If we steal one against tbe Big3 remaining on our schedule? 5-7? 6-6? 7-5? 8-4?

And how do you feel about all of this murkiness on Franklin honoring his contract? Vs say what Mike Tomlin did?
...so you're a glass empty kind of fan? not half full or half empty.

So do you sit with firing Franklin if he wins all remaining games? If we beat the Big3 remaining on our schedule? If we make the playoffs? If we win the Natty?

I have posted before that I am not in favor of the murkiness. That is Franklin's choice, not mine. Franklin( 1 conference champ) is not Tomlin( 1 super bowl champ, 2 conf champs, 7 division champs). It was an insult to Tomlin, an established NFL coach to even be asked that question. I'd be pissed too.

Franklin is the coach until he is not the coach. We have a top 10 recruiting class going right now, I know not signed yet, with players of need 2 QB's, RB, WR, DL. But we don't have a vote. I will still go to work tomorrow.

Nick Saban did not win a MNC until his 10th season as a head coach. His record in the first nine seasons 69-38-1 63.8%

Franklin's career record 89-45 in 10.5 seasons 66.4% , with only 2 losing seasons to date. His first at Vandy 6-7 and last year 4-5. I give him a pass for last year, my opinion, yours maybe not, and until injuries at QB and DT started 5-0 with losses in back to back games by 5 points total.

It was a good thing for LSU that they did not fire Saban after that 8-5 record in his ninth season.

Nobody Likes to lose. If you did you wouldn't be a fan. For the record, not a PSU graduate. I often joke that I did not go to PSU, but my money did (middle son PSU degree 2011) I have been a fan of PSU for as long as I can remember. I have gone to at least one game for 40 years. About 10 years ago I was given the opportunity to share season tickets with rudedude. I've been fortunate to attend most home games, a few away games, and some bowl games.

I loved Joe and the "Success with Honor" mantra. I liked and supported BO'B. Son and I woke up at 4 am and drove 2 hours to State College for his first practice (Rally in the Valley). I like CJF. Has he made some head scratching mistakes re: clock management, play calling, player decisions? Yes, and they hurt because as fans we have an investment whether it be time, money or memories. Does he deserve criticism? Sure, but some posters take it to the extremes, like it's a job.

This thread and this Board are a microcosm of our society today. A few posters on each side of an issue take it to the extremes, make all the noise, It's my way or the highway......while the rest of us are either a little right or left of the middle.

I am also wondering when Marshall the great is going to speak about last week. I am generally on his side about coaching and JF but he goes way too blowhard with his "40 years of athletic administration" BS. Im in year 21 of coaching/athletic administration and yes sometimes you need to have a sit down with the coach and let them know whats up. I dont think getting rid of Franklin is the answer, but hes certainly "got some 'splainin to do". It's also one of the reasons I dont think Sandy is worth a nickel, she isn't going to JF and demanding the sit down.

I give a pass for last year and the Iowa game, well I think is part on coaching and part on Roberson having deer in the headlights game. Now for last week there are questions that have to be answered.

Hardly. Season ticket holder and attendee of many away games too.

I have generally been a Franklin supporter - certainly as far as how he runs the non-football part of his program. But absolutely not a fan of this “will he or won’t he.” That act is getting old.

The trajectory of the program is not good right now. Could he reverse it? Possibly but not looking likely. 4-5 last year and looking dismal this year with a home loss to possibly the conference’s worst team. And as a football people know, when you get abused in the trenches (both sides of the ball), that is a recipe for disaster not a sudden turnaround.

And I don’t buy the injury excuse of losing two players. Cliff played last year and was generally bad. It is the job of coach of top notch program to be prepared for that type of situation. And there is enough 4 star talent on the D to not expect 350+ yards on the ground by a team like Illinois (actually against any team).

So here we sit. The next few weeks will be telling. Would love to see us steal a game against the Big 3 and win against Maryland and Rutgers. Will be a hugely disappointing season but PSU could probably justify keeping the staff.

But with the ongoing issue of running the ball (for years not just this year) and now a newly found concern of getting pushed around on D, I must honestly say we are positioned for a complete collapse. That might force the hand of the administration or Franklin to seek a fresh start. Neither, in my view, would be a good thing. But the blame would be squarely on the shoulders of the person running and leading the program.

Don’t buy the injury excuse? Huh? How would the Packers, Ravens, Cardinals, Bills, Bucs, etc fare without their #1 QB out due to injury? How would any major college
team fare? QB, in this day and age, is THE most important position and for you to say injury is an excuse is disingenuous. 7-0 is what the record would be without injury.

The Illinois game is also an abberation for a plethora of reasons, ultimately not making plays when we had an opportunity to. Last year is an abberation also. Irregardless, Clifford gives us the best chance to win. If Roberson was capable he would have been inserted. Folks in preseason noted he ain’t got it at this level and the portal helped us as well as hurt us. It is what it is.

There’s not being productive with the backup and then there’s not being to get a snap off. You have to admit that was pitiful and it’s hard to point the blame away from the coaches.

Yep - not buying it.

350+ yards on the ground is no aberration. I think we will find out the hard way over the balance of the season.

Hope you are right.
