A friend of mine saw Cael at the football game tis past weekend and got into a conversation with him. He said Cael had a busy weekend with some recruits who were in town. I known of them was Anthony Ferrari. Any word on who was in town and how it went with Anthony Ferrari?

Cael and Casey were sitting two rows behind us at the Pitt game. Cael was sitting right next to who I assume were AJ’s parents

Anthony is the younger brother -- 2022 middleweight. He was probably in town, but in the stands with his parents, definitely not on the sidelines.

AJ (Albert) is the 2020 HWT prospect..

How do we feel about our chances with Aj?

I thought we were out of it and OK State was in the lead. I doubt he goes to Ohio because of their room. I think OK State makes sense, but I also think PSU makes sense. He will likely beat Seth (unfortunately, but that's the way it goes) and will have a great room partner in Cassar, if Cassar decided to go for Olympics in 2020. I think it would be such a huge icing on the cake, but he'll likely need a scholly that we may not have money for? I don't know.

This seems about right. Officially Nebraska and Rutgers are still alive too. Though I wouldn't worry too much about his offer, Cael has a plan.

Choosing either PSU or OKST will have interesting secondary effects. For OKST, Kyle Haas is the top 2021 HWT prospect -- and the recruiting coordinator's brother. (He is uncommitted, and being OKST, would he go 197?)

For PSU, Snacks is obviously impacted. Plus it makes landing Anthony in 2022 much more likely, which affects plans for recruiting Herrera, Crookham, Van Ness, Bouzakis, etc.

First world problems.

I do not believe that either of the fast cars brothers will wear Blue and White. I do not believe that Carl will offer enough $ compared to other schools.

I believe that the off the mat issues the brothers have had is a real issue for the PSU staff---just my opinion.:)

For all the reasons posted I think AJ is a 60% OSU lean 30% PSU, 10% Rutgers lean. I would love to see us get him, but Cael will really have to work his magic, and I am sure AJ will get 100% offers elsewhere that we can't match.

I felt we had a much stronger track at landing Amos and was bummed to see the news last week.

Bono is going to make some noise in the Big 10 in the years ahead, and for that matter, he is not a bad singer either.

Maybe the family doesn't need 100%, and the kid goes where he feels is best for him? It's a strong possibility.

If AJ picks Oklahoma State, John Smith will starve him down to 174.

If AJ picks Penn State, he can eat, lift & pop toothpicks all he wants w Ant The Champ.
I need Cassar going full Razor Ramon on the way to the mat at Rec Hall when BTN covers a dual this winter. Didn't know I needed that until now.

These are tough decisions, grueling and stressful for most high school wrestlers and their families. Money, location (parents want to see their kid wrestle), wrestling goals, and so many things factor in. Always hard to not consider the hot program, which is Penn State right now, if a kid is being recruited by Cael, but sometimes the other factors kick in as more important. We've been blessed, but can't and won't get all the recruits these outstanding coaches go after.

.... And if any parents & families ever need some advice with the recruiting process, there’s a 3-inch thick binder with gold intel, sitting on a bookshelf somewhere in Iowa City.

3rd Southern Columbia wrestler this year to earn a B10 football scholarship (one of whom will also wrestle at Michigan). 4th will wrestle at Brown.

Drives up the asking price for other schools

Halladay used to wrestle which would make it 4 B14 schools
He's one of the 3, along with Garcia and Zachman.

5th SR wrestler is Linn, who I think is still uncommitted ... and definitely too small for football.

Anthony Echemendia to Iowa State. I never bought into the Army WCAP future and thought he might sneak in our back door. The kid/man is incredible. He and Bartlett as back to back would have been formidable. I think he is top 4 talent, but it is pleasing to see Iowa State put pressure on the Hawks.

Yeah....my bad ...I lumped Fleming and a football convo into wrestling...

Tillett was a former multiple PJW champ who wrestled for 2 years behind Haladay, Zachman, and Garcia. He has D-1 offers as well.
