I always assume that once kids get coached up at PSU their HS results will be a lot different. When Sealey basically wrestled Ferrari to a draw at Ironman I pencilled him in to never lose to him again.

I'm guessing that means skipping senior year and spending with PSU/NLWC? Not a bad plan.
The Mirasolas have either teched or pinned everybody to get to the finals. Sinclair is at 215 though so neither of them will get a shot at him.

I was thinking the same when watching the match. He has a huge frame and apparently is in the middle of a growth spurt. I wouldn't be shocked if he never sees 184 in college.
Yes he could. I think the announcers said he had a mid season growth spurt & is already having a hard time making 175. Plus, he's only a junior, so plenty of time left to grow.
not our recruit, but jude correa pinned his way through the 215 bracket. the longest of his 5 matches took 1:22.

Thanks! I've never done PBP before this year & the last couple tournaments didn't have video coverage, so I was just watching the little red & green figures on the FloArena dashboard and trying to note the scoring. It was nice to do PBP of a live event where I could actually see what was happening. That definitely helps!
One thing I noticed was that it's hard to keep up with the PBP typing during Lilledahl & Sealey matches. They can get a takedown, immediately cut their opponent & then be right back in on another takedown lickety-split. I had to pause the video during their semi-final matches, so I could catch up with the PBP.
They were so dominant in their semi-final wins that their opponents couldn't really get anything going, because Lilledahl & Sealey were almost constantly attacking, so their opponents were constantly on the defense. They both used multiple different attacks from neutral. IIRC, I saw single & double leg attacks, duck unders, slide bys & ankle picks from both Lilledahl & Sealey.
That was a beautiful display of offense from those two. They looked really special, and appear to have the foundations to become future PSU bonus point machines. It'll be really nice having them in the room next year & watching their careers blossom.
Desmond & Henckel weren't quite as dominant, but they were really solid & not far behind. Plus, they're both juniors, so they have another year of high school to develop before coming to PSU. It sounds like Henckel is still growing too. They looked like a couple more solid kids with lots of potential to develop. All four of these recruits look like they're going to be rock-solid additions to the team!

He actually got 4 stall calls, but at least he didn't get DQ'd! That would have been embarrassing!
I thought he was called for stalling at least 5 times. The announcers thought so as well. He was constantly warned about putting his foot on the line because he started several times being a foot or more off the line and immediately backing up to the edge so his length would allow him to stretch out beyond the "edge" and not give up the takedown in bounds. I am quite surprised he wasn't stalled out to a DQ. He never shot and immediately backed up to the edge after every restart. His coach/parents must be so proud

PJ Duke wins New York State championship at 160 lbs; Wins the final by tech fall in 5:53, which was about 3 minutes longer than any of his previous three bouts (two pins and one TF).

Think he limited his wrestling this year since he's coming back from injury and candidly, he has almost nothing to prove anymore in high school folk anymore. A lot of studs around his weight in high school and he has dominated them all for the most part.
I think Duke finished at 39-0 this season. If you consider around 40 matches a limited schedule, then yes.

Opponent was fortunate the match was stopped for a TF -- that was a spladle in the making.
Here's the scoresheet. Weiss won with NF. Under college rules (T3 and NF4), they would've gone to SV tied 11-11.
BTW, ignore the rankings in the tweet above. Nationally ranked returning S2 Maddox Shaw dropped from 145 for the postseason.
Weiss will be the 4 or (more likely) the 5 seed, with Shaw in the semis. Perry will have a decidedly easier path, in the same half as returning S6 Seamus Mack. That alignment would've been the same had Perry won regionals -- he would've been the 2 seed, and then Weiss would've been unseeded in Shaw's half.
Are we thinking Duke will take the same path as his HS teammate Ryder, skipping his senior year and working out with the NLWC?

Hopefully the slush fund is generating a high interest rate.
