4th Qtr
6:14 left
ILL goes for 4th and 6 at midfield

Curious...why did ILL not punt here? Is it because they've been unproductive and it is too late in game? At this point it is a 14-7 one score game so why not punt and try to pin PSU hoping to get another possession. If ILL doesn't make it, PSU has ball at midfield

Turns out PSU is offsides, so it becomes 4th and 1. Then ILL is offsides and it's 4th and 6 again. Then the Harris block-in-the-back-interception. So, regardless of ILL's decision to go, I am good with how it unfolded. 😉

Very akin to what we did vs Michigan and OSU last year down in close, tight games. Had they punted, we might not have scored our 3rd TD, but outside of a fumble they weren't stopping us. We got the ball and didn't fumble, so I'd say we likely burn clock from 80-95 yards out and Illinois doesn't get another possession.

As an underdog, you have to do something at some point. 6 minutes left is fine with me.

Even though 4th and long I thought it was a pretty solid decision based on how well PSU was running the ball and the IL D was out of gas. The chance that PSU could have gotten a first down or two and taken 3-4 minutes off the clock was high. Even if PSU had punted, IL would have had 2-3 minutes to go the length of the field which was highly unlikely against a pretty fresh PSU D.

This....we could have easily run six minutes off the clock.
