Wisconsin is a 3 point pick at home vs Michigan this weekend.

Also UCF is a 10 point pick at Pitt. I wonder if any fans will show up.

Michigan State is predicted to rebound at Northwestern but I wouldn’t be surprised if they packed it in after last week’s disappointing loss.

And Georgia is a 2 touchdown favorite over the Fighting Irish. Go Dawgs!

Utah is a small favorite at USC tomorrow night but I think the Utes win easily, at least I hope so.

I never bet on games btw, just like to use the line to scout out good matchups. College football is so much more fun to watch than the NFL.
With the bye week it’s nice to relax and remote control around a bunch of good games.

Wisconsin's schedule is very favorable this year. They may go through the season with 1 loss if they win on Saturday.

They get Michigan, Michigan St, and Iowa at home. The Ohio St game is on the road but even if they lose that game they likely get a revenge rematch in the big 10 championship.

Georgia can not beat ND by enough. If ND keeps it reasonably close, even with garbage time points, the media will be in full spin mode. We’ll hear how Georgia is such a good team that ND shouldn’t really fall that much blah blah..... and that sets them up for a redemption game with Michigan. Win that game and they’ll be back in the top 10.

Prepare for the Pitt trolls to invade the board Saturday telling us how much better UCF is than Penn State. ;)

I think Wisconsin beats Michigan, but that's OK because if they win the West, we'll get a shot at them anyway. Either way, pretty much a wash as far as we are concerned.

A Michigan State win is probably better for us since we don't play NW and I don't see any way NW wins the West.

I hope Pitt beats the living snot out of UCF (and everyone else they play this year). If UCF kills Pitt like they did Stanford, that makes us look like complete garbage.

Hate both ND and the SEC. Probably best for us if ND wins, and then gets beat by Michigan. That would eventually drop both ND and Georgia below us if we beat Michigan.

Utah and USC should be fun. California doesn't have the number of big bodies they used to have to supply schools with quality linemen. And the LA teams now have a reputation of being soft. Utah is going to physically beat those USC pretenders from here to kingdom come.

Fall? ND will most likely move up in the polls if they keep it close.

The Conference really didn’t do Wisconsin any favors with those three crossover games.

It all cycles around. Their current annual crossover is Michigan. A couple years ago the other two were Indiana and Maryland. They easily won all three games and had a cakewalk through the generally weak Big Ten west. I'm not aware of any complaining in Madison regarding this years schedule but if they are irked they have no right to be given the division they're in.

Yes but they sure did by having them in the Big10 West - We have the East Schedule and a cross over with Iowa - who got screwed by the Big 10?

On the bright side, starting in 2022 our annual crossover will be Illinois. Nothing against Iowa but playing them every year doesn't excite me. Playing Illinois won't excite me either but at least it'll be a new team to be unexcited about.

Pitt fans prove how dumb they are...they lose to us by 7 and their hate for us makes it too hard for them to credit us with being a good team, they just say we’re overrated, we’re not very good, we’ll have 5 losses....are they not smart enough to realize they dismiss their own good effort by doing that? Now if they beat UCF or keep that game close, they will rave about how good UCF is, not that they’re overrated.

I like your picks other than MSU. They don't strike me as a team that packs it in. Still a lot to play for.

Well, they should be less of a challenge than is Iowa.

Disagree that the UM-Wiscy game is a "wash" for PSU. A Michigan loss helps us potentially win the BIG East. Obviously we have a ton of work to do to be in that conversation, but if PSU-OSU-UM all go 1-1 against each other, UM losing to Wiscy (if they do) could be a big deal.

MSU is a good example of having a terrible offense and how going under center isn't necessarily the fix all some believe.

No defense in college football is good enough to win every game when you score less than 21. I don't think the Sun Devil's are supposed to be anything special this year. It's not necessarily a bad loss for them, but rather an indicator that every game in the conference (Rutgers not included) will be a struggle. Any injuries, they are screwed. The longer the offense struggles, the weaker that defense will get as the season progresses.

NW is not very good either. 17-7 loss to a piss poor Stanford team and I don't see but one game they might win between Sparty and November (Nebraska, maybe). Their West cupcakes are all in November. No Paddy F magic this year.

Sparty 13, NW 7

Don't be surprised if Michigan beats Wiscy. Seen the movie before where Wiscy beats up on Out Of Conf patsies and then loses against real competition.

I think this may be the first time I ever pull for UGA in a game. I just hate the ND hype so much. I figure if Georgia makes gets thru to the college football playoff, it will be because they earned it ......... ND on the other hand is because they get hyped into it.

Agree with others who said Utah will be too physical for SC. I just see Utah lining up and playing smash-mouth on both sides for 60 minutes. I do not see SC holding up to the Utah physicality.

Another excellent game this week-end not getting any talk is Auburn @ Texas A&M. This is crucial for A&M. With 1 loss, they can not afford a 2nd loss now. Especially with Georgia, Bama and LSU still on their schedule. If A&M loses, they are staring at a 5 loss season ... how much is Dumbo Fischer making per year??? On the other side, Auburn is kind of in same boat, as they also have Georgia, Bama and LSU on their schedule. I think this may be the best game of the weekend from a competitive perspective. I could see UGA blowing out ND, Utah beating down SC, and Wiscy-Michigan being lopsided. But Texas A&M - Auburn should be good.

Jane, on hearing that Penn State would not be playing this weekend, “I am so looking forward to not sharing my home with a raving psychopath.”

Last weekend my 5 year old son started talking about how poorly the game was going in the first half, as if I needed the reminder, and I told him to sit down and yip it. I didn't need any 5 year old commentary. My wife shuttled him to the back in our room to watch the game. My other 3 older boys looked around like he should have known better.

At halftime I went back and told him that I was sorry, that dad is already stressed out enough, he needs to learn to not get me more mad at the game by pointing out stuff I am already mad at.

My wife just looked at me and said, "Do you hear yourself?"

I said nothing. Later that evening she said I can't believe how ramped up you get. I reminded her about being in Pittsburgh during the 12-0 debacle, which she was there with me right after we had gotten married. Told her you have known about this for 25 years with me. I am as cool as a cucumber about almost everything, work, kids, their ball games. I lose my mind, both positive and negative during these games. Fanatic, die hard, whatever you want to call it, I love PSU sports and that won't ever change.

Easily the best weekend of a young season for crucial matchups.

UGA, ND, Michigan, Wisky, Utah, Auburn, A&M - all in must win games as far as the playoff goes seemingly. Sure, other losses can occur and change that, but it's a drama unique to CFB.

Don't be surprised if Michigan beats Wiscy. Seen the movie

I tend to never give much credit to Wisky until they beat one of their East divisions foes, but this is an unusual Wolverine team. They don't seem to have the ability to beat the Badgers at their own game this year (power running, play action with better athletes) and nobody knows if the offense will click this week.

Still, Michigan by 3 until Wisconsin wins one like this.

True, but Wisconsin basically has Penn State’s schedule (except PSU is at Iowa, at MSU, and at OSU while Wisky gets 2 of those 3 at home).

Michigan looks shaky so far and the game is in Madison. Wisky should be favored over Iowa and an anemic MSU who just lost to Arizona St.

I tend to disagree. I feel that until Wiscy proves they have the outside athletes, they just do not have the same caliber of outside athletes as the Eastern elites such as Penn St, Ohio St and Michigan.... Wiscy always has a big RB that puts up like 6,000 yards behind their mammoth OL. But every time they play one of the Eastern elites, they simply do not have the speed athletes to match up on the outside. I see the same thing this year. Michigan has better speed athletes than Wiscy. Whatever happened 2 weeks ago vs. Army with-standing, the bottom-line is that Michigan is still loaded with 4 & 5* stud WRs. Wiscy will want to play their typical game tight to the line of scrimmage, but 2 or 3 times during the game Michigan will be able to bust one of those guys out for a big play........ until proven otherwise......... I'll insist that I've seen this Wiscy movie before and I know how it ends.

Oh, no question. I was thinking more big picture as in CFP since we were talking National. That's where it would be a wash. As for the Big Ten East, which we would have to win to play Wisconsin, you are absolutely right. A Michigan loss definitely helps us. So you've convinced me. : ^ )

ON WISCONSIN!!!!!!!! : ^ )

Pitt gave there all last week. Won't be worth Panther piss this week. Expect them to lose big. After all ......it's what they do.

They are already doing that on the lair. They are saying that UCF will be the best team they play all year.
The college coaches have us ranked 12th and UCF ranked 16th. I guess the Aholes on the lair think they are more qualified to rank teams than are the coaches.

Torn on this. If I stick to my guns, and say my goal for each year is a Big 10 Title , as that is the highest goal the team can control, then I go Wisconsin. But the dreamer in me is always scheming the best path to a playoff (engage me), in which case we want all of our opponents to be as good record wise as possible, so I go Michigan there. But is is likely we would face Wisconsin in Big Ten title game, so having a strong Wisconsin win is viable.

After all of that, I am going Wisconsin. And I think I will be pleased, I think they roll the wolves

Gotta hope that Wiscy pounds on Michigan and wins by a couple of TDs in a low scoring game, maybe 17-3. That will get the boo birds out for Harbaugh and Gattis and I think that program is fragile right now as Harbaugh is a whacko. Could put Michigan into a nice tailspin.

I have read so many times on this board quotes like "Just win, baby ... the recruits will come." Such comments imply that high-level recruits want to go to winning programs.

Then why would any CFB fan root for their primary recruiting rivals to win games? Are LSU fans cheering all those 11/12-win Bama seasons or would they prefer to see Bama go the way of Tennessee? Upset that Fleming picked the Buckeyes? Why? Look who wins more games.

Posters have stated that MSU rose in recruiting when Michigan slumped in the Rich Rod era. Do you think Spartan fans were really hoping to see the Wolverines become a powerhouse?

If following Penn State football for any reasonable length of time has taught its fan base anything, it is that nothing the Nittany Lions do on the field seems top boost its chances to play for a NC. Not going undefeated (68-69-73-94). Not having a tougher schedule (94). Not beating both OSU and Michigan (94). Not winning the Big Ten championship (2016).

The only times Penn State has had a chance to play for a NC is when everybody else loses and PSU, by default, is the only unbeaten, untied team left (78-85-86).

Hence, I root for everybody else to lose at least 1 game ... but I actually would be thrilled to see Michigan lose all 12 every year.

I think it would be best if Wisky lost just once to Ohio State, setting up a huge undefeated matchup at the end of the year. One that if we win, then go on to beat a 1-loss Wisky in the CCG, the playoff is all but assured.

I don't think that would tailspin them. 6-6 type year, including losses to little brother and The Game, might would.

Why is an O$U fan posting on a PSU board when neither team is playing? PSU must be in their heads.
