So...with all these players declaring, are the scholies available immediately? If yes, that would mean we could be bringing in 5(?) more guys in the feb. signing period.

Sure are available immediately. But Classes have started so there is not the immediate need as those that sign in February will not be enrolling early. Reportedly room for 5 more, pending any additional attrition.

I count openings for 7....but then I can't count. Figure James might save 1 or 2 for walk ons that deserve a Ship.

On paper there are 5, but surely there will be more departures before next season, either NFL, transfer, medical, grades, etc.

My very unofficial count is 80 right now ... 5 to go.

I believe you missed Polk (9 WR's) and Walker (13 OL).

You also have Tarburton as a LB, and is is a DE and has been all of Fall.

Click on the link which I believe to be accurate.

any 5th year player who is not likely to get significant playing time as starter or immediate backup would be candidates to depart. Walk-on scholies are few and far between - and then probably year to year thing. kickers normally do not get rewarded although our KO guy is very good and deserves something.

Oops, excuse me. I thought your post said schoolies available. Just wanted you to know I'm already taken.

Checa had the most OOB kickoffs in the B10 (in fact, he had twice as many as the next closest guy)

And Penn State ranked 84th in the nation (and 11th in the B10) in kickoff return defense.
But...... yeah...... ok

PSU has been poor for the last several years re OOB KOs and that has a lot to do with whatever they are trying to do kicking close to the sideline. we saw Joey do this when he could just blow it through the EZ easily. I want KO through the EZ with no return and this guy looks to have the ability to do that.
