Senior Worlds (non Olympic weights) - October 28-31, 2024

All y'all are missing the fact that the showdown will happen! Seeding the past world/Olympic champs 1-2-3 wouldn't have guaranteed the match we have all been wanting to see.

but wouldn't they have the ability to tweak the bracket
They've even figured out how to tweak the results of matches. Surely a brcket can't be difficult.

But all kidding aside, I would be more upset if I were Sadulaev as pointed out in a previous post. He's the one decending.
I think DT is going to gorge himself in the second period.

So, we should take results at weights other than where they are competing to determine that they should be top seeds at THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS?!

If anything, that kinda seeding is ripe for corruption. There is a system. They didn't use it at the weight. They moved weights for a non-traditional world championships. The downside to that is next-to-no seeding criteria.
All well and fine, but let's not forget: UWW changed the brackets to this dreck.

The original brackets followed the rules.

So this isn't an either/or. This is UWW screwing up.

Seriously. DT vs Sadulaev first round?!?! Also same side as Ghasempour. Would see him in the semis. Wild that one of those 3 won’t place. The bottom is sooo weak compared. Also up top are Akturk, Ishiguro, Abakarov.

We also get Ono vs Uguev first round. They are on the same side as Vito. Would meet in the semis. Vito on the tougher side for sure.

Burroughs with a pretty tough draw. Likely gets Khadjiev, then Evloev, and then Nokhodi. Should definitely win the first 2 but then Nokhodi in the quarters is a tough match.
Isn't Khadjiev a rematch of 2 different World finals ('21 & '22)?

It's not hard to understand. Do I like it? Nope. Is it the way the rules are written? Yep.

My take, I have no clue who wins this match. Lol

If Taylor has addressed his tank issues, which I believe he has, I think he takes Sadulaev.
Taylor admitted the last few years he actually wanted to see how much he could coast and still win.
He admitted he found out.
No way Brooks beats Taylor at 100%
I'm thinking Taylor has ramped his conditioning in a big way.
Sadulaev could catch him and end it early, Taylor the same.
Crazy match coming up.
No one has a clue what will happen.
That said, let's hope Brooks sticks with it full force. He was literally a heartbeat away from being an olympic champion. I think in Yazs condition Brooks would have beaten him.
Future is bright at 86kg.

Thank you, David Taylor and Abdulrashid Sadulaev.

In a world of ducking, bumping, "resting", and politicking... This is what makes our sport great.

How do y’all keep up with upcoming matches? I’m watching mat B and it is women’s wrestle backs. Will Taylor be up in 3 matches on mat B?

92kg Qualif. - David Morris Taylor VS Abdulrashid Sadulaev (AIN)

Period 1:
DT in red & Sadulaev in blue. Sadulaev looking much trimmer. His singlet is even loose in the chest & under the arms. Here we go! Tying up & circling, Sadulaev snaps, nothing & back to the tie up. DT drops in on a leg, Sadulaev defending & gets away, back to neutral. Circling, tying up. Passivity warning Sadulaev, restart. DT shoots, Sadulaev threatening with a chest wrap & sprawls back. Sadulaev spins around, comes behind & gets a TD, 2-0, no turns, restart. Tying up, Sadulaev snaps, nothing. Circling & hand fighting, Sadulaev snaps & comes behind quickly for another TD, 4-0, looking for a turn, but no luck, restart, 3:46 left. Circling & tying up & pushing in the center & that's how the period ends. 4-0 Sadulaev

Period 2:
Kennedy & someone I don't recognize in DT's corner. Back to action. DT shoots, Sadulaev sprawls, stalemate, restart. Tying up DT pushing forward a little, then they're back to center. Sadulaev snaps, DT sprawls back & they're back to center. DT shoots, Sadulaev gets a chest lock & is trying to come behind for another TD, but takes DT out of bounds, 5-0, restart. DT shoots off the whistle, gets a leg, but Sadulaevu sprawls back & it's a stalemate. DT back in on a leg off the whistle, Sadulaev counters, they're scrambling & Sadulaev gets the TD, 7-0, restart. 1:25 left. Circling, DT shoots, nothing, DT shoots again, gets a leg, but Sadulaev sprawls back for a stalemate, restart. DT shoots again off the whistle, Sadulaev sprawls & it's another stalemate, restart. 42-sec left. Tying up, DT reaches for a leg, nothing. Sadulaev locked over the head & it's another stalemate. DT shoots again off the whistle, Sadulaev with another sprawl, and another stalemate, restart, 14-sec left & that's how it ends. Sadulaev was in control of the entire match. DT got to his legs, but couldn't do much else from there.

Abdulrashid Sadulaev DEC David Taylor 7-0

rough. a different gameplan probably would have been better for DT
What do you do differently, though? Outside of mixing up the ties, he got into a hole and caught in the quicksand of having to attack on one of the best to ever do it.

EDIT: and on top of that, the opponent has an almost-unrivaled counter chest wrap and a size advantage.
