Senior Worlds (non Olympic weights) - October 28-31, 2024

Clearly DT has regressed in the Okie State room....

Sadulaev was just immovable. Too big, too strong, too good.

What do you do differently, though? Outside of mixing up the ties, he got into a hole and caught in the quicksand of having to attack on one of the best to ever do it.

EDIT: and on top of that, the opponent has an almost-unrivaled counter chest wrap and a size advantage.
his gameplan was obviously a japanese style consistent leg attack and he just couldn’t get close to scoring from there. obviously hindsight is 20/20 but wrestling a more tactical (boring) match would have given him a better shot at forcing Sadulaev out of position. But also sometimes you are just beat

Im just not sure there is a game plan for peak form Sad.

Look at snyder. He’s thrown a different gameplan at him every time and beat him once.

My take, I have no clue who wins this match. Lol

If Taylor has addressed his tank issues, which I believe he has, I think he takes Sadulaev.
Taylor admitted the last few years he actually wanted to see how much he could coast and still win.
He admitted he found out.
No way Brooks beats Taylor at 100%
I'm thinking Taylor has ramped his conditioning in a big way.
Sadulaev could catch him and end it early, Taylor the same.
Crazy match coming up.
No one has a clue what will happen.
That said, let's hope Brooks sticks with it full force. He was literally a heartbeat away from being an olympic champion. I think in Yazs condition Brooks would have beaten him.
Future is bright at 86kg.
Why is it we never heard Taylor saying he coasted after wins, only losses? I think Brooks beat Taylor because now Brooks is the better wrestler. Both times he lost it was an excuse that basically said I was not trying, rather than the best guy won

I feel like people just ignored the fact that DT is darn near 34, wrestling up a weight and honestly didn’t look great the last two times he wrestled domestically
Exactly. David Taylor is past his prime, primarily focused on his new coaching gig, and wrestling up a weight class.

Sudalev is 28 years old, still likely in his prime, and wrestling what is probably the best weight for him. He is clearly going to go down as an all time great.

It would have been an absolutely amazing victory if Taylor had won, but I don't think it was reasonable to expect a win if Sudalev brought his A game, which it appears he did.

No one knew. Taylor looked really good at the trials and is still top 3 in this weight. Zahid just won a bronze at the weight a year ago.

But yeah. This version of Sadulaev is just a wall.

Never thought I’d see the day where Magic Man shut down completely like that.

Great career, all time great, and the main catalyst to the amazing PSU run of dominance.

Your first sentence is why Cael after 2011 never looked back when he stopped competing. It is just to difficult to be a full-time head coach and trying to be a world class athlete. You can say you are putting the time in, but the mental focus will not be completely there. Those last few percentage points of dedication can make a huge difference at that level of competition.

Did he though?

Taylor got a bye to the finals, where he lost to Aaron 4-1 and 3-1. He looked good defensively, but struggled to break thru Aaron's underhook and find attacks.

Since he got that bye to the finals, we never got to see how he would've looked against anyone other than Aaron.

They both weighed 92 kg. Knock it off with the size advantage. DT got beat by a better wrestler, today.

Seems like a lot of folks are more interested in making excuses for David losing.

That's because DT is one of the worst losers I've ever seen. We all remember his loss to J'den at the Trials. There is always an excuse, other than "I got beat today. Back to work tomorrow."

Predictions? Here's one. DT beats Sadulaev, but doesn't win gold.
Well that didn't age well. No excuses, and that wasn't close. DT was motivated, well trained and to think Sadi wrestled sucked down returning from injury, all the indicators were leaning in David's favor.

Sadilaev is the GOAT taking out two of our very best, ever.

F*cking Flowrestling at it again. It's always something. I don't even know why I get my hopes up. I feel like Charlie Brown every time this happens. There are 1 person Youtubers out there that have less issues.
